Negative experience: horrific service, i was not allowed in as a guest because of my brothers card was under my mums name. at every other city fitness they are kind and respectful of this, not this one! don’t go here i hope i can get some compensation for my troubles Thanks.

Positive experience: I usually go to a different one. I found this one hard to access from inside the mall (I guess you get used to it). The gym was crowded, people stood next to me waiting while I was trying to work out. And they would wipe the machines after I had already wiped them which I found odd, I definitely don't look so sweaty or filthy that they need to double wipe all... I prefer my local one, I think if they will cater for that many members they should make it bigger.

Negative experience: PT NASM Course Happened to me a while ago, but I decided to still share it to help people be more aware. I purchased a NASM PT course through CityFitness for $1,699. Pichuda from the studio was great at selling the course, however when I later had issues, I couldn’t reach her—my texts went unanswered. Unfortunately, my access to exam platform was denied and I couldn’t take it. NASM simply told me I had to pay again, without offering real support. Be mindful that time zone differences may also shorten your access window by a day. Overall, this isn’t a great place to actually become a personal trainer. The course is expensive, the sales are okay, but once you face problems, neither the studio nor NASM provide proper support

Fantastic experience: Best CF gym I've been to by far and always only go here now. Machines are always functioning. Cool thing they did was added another chest fly machine which makes life easier. Barely any machines under repair unlike other places. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Locker rooms and showers are always clean and have soap stocked in. Tip - 8:30am onwards is quiet and best time to go.

The treadmills sound like they’re about to land to orbit Staff greet you with the same energy I greet my alarm clock ⏰ Locker room lighting so harsh it should come with a trigger warning ⚠️ Here is a picture of the car park

Negative experience: This place is disgusting, they don’t clean, and you can see peoples sweat marks everywhere due to this. And be careful because even if you pay the extra for a flexi membership, they will still require you to pay for a whole month before you can cancel. Stay away from this gym unless you want to catch something or get scammed

Negative experience: Nice gym with open spaces & plenty of equipment. BIG but! Where are the cleaning stations? I couldn't find any. Now I'm dealing with a nasty case of ringworm that I got from one of the bikes. Disgusting that there isn't anything to clean equipment down with. Please put a lot more cleaning equipment out for us all to use.

Fantastic experience: As a gym owner myself, i love going to other gyms when i get a chance. Especially 24h gyms. I loved all the equipment, even at a busy time, i had little to no wait for a machine i wanted. I have a group fitness gym so obviously lacks machines, was an amazing feeling after doing legs. Was sore for daaays! Was a clean just apart from the smell (wasnt bad but not fresh or flowers haha) its a gym so naturally its going to smell a little. I will be coming back if i was stuck in the city again. Definitely recommend

Negative experience: I've been a member of the gym for two years. A few weeks ago, I was at this gym and got charged for parking when I left. In all the gyms I've attended as a City Fitness member, I’ve never been charged for parking. I’d like to know if this is correct — being charged for parking — which I find absurd considering I’m a member and pay a weekly fee. If that’s the case, I’d appreciate clarification so I can avoid returning to this location.

Negative experience: "Terrible experience at the gym! I stored my belongings in a locker and had to pause my membership due to personal issues. When I came to collect my stuff and potentially reactivate my membership, I was told to fill out a form and wait for a call from head office which is understandable part of process as they could not activate from their system. However, my belongings were missing from the locked locker. Staff informed me that they remove items from lockers after a while, even if locked, and suggested me she can check the lost and found. but i couldn’t not get anything This is inappropriate to removed from locker, especially there were many lockers were free still they removed. no matter person comes or not since I was still paying $14.41 week. I lost approximately $200 worth of gear, including Nike shoes and gym wear. To make matters worse, I was waiting for a call from head office as i changed my mind after this incident to discuss not continuing my membership, but I never received any call. Despite this, I was auto-charged, which is unacceptable. The lack of communication and accountability is appalling. Lost trust in this gym due to poor service and security."

For safety and security reasons, if lockers are left unused and locked for extended periods, we may need to open them. We do have signage within the gym to inform members of this policy. Negative experience: I did workout in this gym and missed my thermal flask last night. Then I went back to look for it but got no luck to find it. I called the staff this morning to check but still they said nothing new for lost and found with very “ I don’t give a shit “ tone and I even got turned down when I requested to see the video recording as they said the video recording is not for missing objects even if I told her that cup is has super important meaning for me from my mom. This is very disappointing and frustrating. Hope the manager comes out and deal with this properly and train your staff to be more customer oriented and well mannered with patience and empathy.

For privacy and safety reasons, we don't provide members with footage unless requested by police. Negative experience: 3 - 8pm this gym is unusable. Weekends and Weekdays alike. Solid 20% of machines are consistently broken as well.

Negative experience: Today, I took my 14-year-old daughter to the Newmarket City Fitness. Shortly after we entered, a staff member approached us and said his manager had been watching us and sent him to ask how old my daughter was. I told him she was 14, and he said you have to be 16 or older to enter, then asked us to leave. At that time, there were many other high school students in the gym, most of whom were not accompanied by their parents. Some of them were even my daughter’s classmates. The staff didn’t say anything to them, but only approached us—just because we are Asian. Moreover, City Fitness’s official website clearly states that children aged 14 and over are allowed to enter under parental supervision. When I showed this to the staff member, he claimed I had said my daughter was 13. English is not my first language, but I have lived in New Zealand for over 20 years—I can clearly pronounce the difference between “thirteen” and “fourteen.” Being asked to leave with my daughter, while others were allowed to stay, left me with only one conclusion: that this City Fitness staff member displayed serious racial discrimination against us.

Positive experience: We were visiting members from CityFitness Ruakura (Hamilton). Comparatively, Ruakura is newer so the gear is less worn, has better air-conditioning throughout, and has a Simplicity gym space within the main CF gym. Hard to beat.

Fantastic experience: Yes it's busy during certain times on weekdays, but there's a variety of machines and free weights to use. Reminds me of a cheaper, more accessible version of Les Mills (which I was a member years ago).

Fantastic experience: So pleased I moved from the competition to City Fitness. Not only does City Fitness offer a range of memberships making it more affordable, it has equally as good facilities, group fitness programmes and nationwide reach. Also, City Fitness doesnt claw back membership fees after offering to suspend them during a pandemic or waste memberships on an innercity parking building!! Finally and most importantly City Fitness reception staff actually greet you...rather than treat members over 40 as invisible. A better option all round

Negative experience: Ok if you like exhaust fumes to go with your workouts...must be why everyone in there resembles a munter
Negative experience: I tried to sign in with my guest but it wouldn’t go through we tried at the front entrance (Wouldn’t work) back entrance (Didn't work) scanned my card and only one person can get through this is very frustrating and waste of our time what’s the point having the guest sign in when it doesn’t work! No staff working either, so no one can help , (at least have someone there to help)

Negative experience: After being on black membership for close to 5 years, I was told to pay $32+ to place my membership on hold for 5 weeks. My weekly membership rental is $14.41 per week. If that wasn't enough the hold request itself takes 5 business days to be processed whether you call them or do it over the counter. They don't have anyone after hours at the gym or over the phone. I was introduced to the club by someone else and since then I've referred 4 new members myself. There are heaps of other gyms in Auckland that offer better services for the same price if not less and never have I ever been told to pay $32+ just to place my membership on hold for a few weeks. I was thinking of referring 2 new members in the new year and teaming up for regular work out sessions but I'm definitely not doing that now and potentially moving somewhere else given the ridiculous customer service and zero consideration they offer. Most of the staff members speak to you like they're doing you a favour. Why am I not surprised reading the other reviews? Extremely disappointed!

Negative experience: Omgsh, the most dirtiest gym Ive ever experienced. Ladies...ewww! Wheres the hygiene? Could only imagine what the mens changing rooms were like. Seriously the icks are everywhere! The place needs a gooooood disinfect in EVERYTHING, the hand dryers...yuck smell blown back up in face frm old dirty drip trays, the water fountains need a scrub where you fill your bottle. Felt like you could catch a disease from everyrhing you touched, yup defs on the equipment and tbh the people had the same icks bowt them (sorii) but the etiquette was yuck too...could only handle a half train n gaaaap'd it! Go there (if u have no fk's), its stil a gym lol hense the 1 twinkle star! I wont ever return

Positive experience: Great gym, great location, and everything you may need is here except all their blowers and hair straighteners today at the ladies' room are out of service (not sure how long this hasn't been working for). Perhaps a good idea to have one fixed urgently for use?

Positive experience: Love city fitty Newwy, lots of squat racks and the water is nice and cold. They need to replace the toilet paper more though because sometimes you can get stranded. Also there should be rules about filming in the gym and using tripods. The staff are lovely.
Positive experience: Huge groups of school kids constantly taking over the lockers chatting taking selfies flirting leaving huge amounts of rubbish on the bench on the floor ever where it's hard to find a spot to change. See another guy in his 60 drying his socks with the 2 hair dryers , staff need to be more serious

Fantastic experience: Clean facilities with loads of space. The staff are friendly and most people don't bother me when I'm doing my flexibility training which is really nice. Great place to go, work out, and not feel judged or stared at. The showers and hair dryers available in the locker rooms are also really handy. I enjoy coming here when I'm on my way to work.
Negative experience: disgusting service. workers don't actually care about their customers, they're just wanting to get free gym memberships.
Fantastic experience: Changed my life like changed my life. Whne I walk in this gym I’m overwhelmed with feelings of love galore and lil nas x. Every time I go to this gym I feel really good like amazing and my life just feels so fulfilled and amazing and it’s soooooo good and shoutout Chris who makes my day every time Chris is such a legend. And like the gym is so gym. And whne the gym and i collide it’s giving gym I’m actually huge from all the illegal substances I’ve consumed and the gains I’ve got from the equipment that’s so gym equipment lateral squad bicep lunge wrist flick with ankle weights.

Negative experience: This is the stinkiest gym in the world. I know this is a people problem because they don't shower, but they should clean properly. I don't recommend it. It's very busy, and you can't use the equipment.

Fantastic experience: Prolly one of the biggest gym out there. Amazing vibes, watching people working out gives you an extra boost. Although, could be little crowded at certain times so you gotta have patience cause it could take a while to get that squat rack or a bench.
Positive experience: Impossible to work out unless you’re willing to visit at insane hours, or battle the phone-drone slack-jaw high school children who use the leg machines as their thrones LOL. Lovely equipment though. One of the nicer CFs. Staff are always just gossiping behind the counter, but this is usually typical of CF.
