Positive experience: Really enjoyed this facility recently it’s a great set up and will definitely be back. Only suggestion would be is to have a seperate plunge pool close to the sauna sitting around 10-14 degrees. The cafe attached is also really good

Negative experience: When visiting with my at the time less than 6 month old baby, I noticed a little girl no older than 4 or 5, drowning. She put her hand in the air, and this is when she caught my attention. I put my baby on the ground, jumped in and grabbed the girl whilst the lifeguards stood by and did nothing. A random mum watched me do this and grabbed my baby, holding her until I got out of the pool with the other little girl. No check in afterwards from staff for me or the little girl, they stood observing from the bridge that goes over the cold pool.

Fantastic experience: Had the best visit to this wonderful spa! Hoped to see sunrise but alas too cloudy but it didn't take away from my chilled and refreshing experience. The staff, especially Suzanna, on reception, were helpful and efficient, Suzanne, especially was attentive and helpfull. I shall be going back tomorrow!

Negative experience: Black mold all around the sides of pool and under the grates on side. Black mold in womans bathroom all-over windows. Will never be going back. Staff were lovely. absolutely disgusting

Negative experience: This is not a Spa it's an incredibly overpriced council pools. We only paid $10 being guests at the hotel across the road and that felt like an overpayment of $5. Unwelcoming staff, crowded, kids everywhere 6 or so lifeguards looking bored out of their brains or chatting amongst themselves lol it was entertaining watching them. Sauna pretty manky people not using towels. It's a council pools and for that it's good but it's pretending to be something else. Go to the beach.

Positive experience: We’ve always loved coming here as a family, but during our recent visit we had a really disappointing experience. Two young children were being very disruptive — one repeatedly jumped on top of my 4-year-old in the pool who is not a confident swimmer, and the other wouldn’t leave us or other families alone. It made it hard to relax or enjoy our swim.They also followed us to the family changing room and tried to get in when we were changing. The lifeguards didn’t seem to notice what was happening, and there were no parents in sight. I understand they can’t see everything, but it would be great if staff could keep a closer eye on situations like this to make sure everyone can enjoy the pool safely.

Fantastic experience: Ocean Spa has a resort feel. We had a relaxing soak after our cycling tour with Takaro Trails. They do a package with breakfast at the Bach Cafe, then a cycle tour, then a soak. Thoroughly enjoyed our day. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: On admission we had the most surley rude staff member who should not be in customer service or front of house role. The pools themselves were I okay condition and needing a bit of tlc and the change facilities were awful time for an upgrade.

Negative experience: Grossly overpriced for a lane swim - so much so we left and went 7 minutes down the road and paid just $4.80, saving over $15. If you just want to swim some laps, do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. Even for a hot swim $20 seems steep.

Fantastic experience: We visited here during the winter and the hot pools were so lovely on a very crisp but sunny morning! They have lots of pools to choose from - we used the larger hot pool and the smaller round hot pools due to the season, but they were both lovely. The facilities are nice and tidy also - it was great to have a spacious change room with lots of showers and toilets. The hotel we stayed at gave us cheaper access to the pools and free access to the gym which was a great plus!

Negative experience: Generally helpful staff, but my prepaid card had expired by two weeks and sorry no entry. Two things I purchased the card a year ago at the old high price and you didn’t know when your card expires unless you have made a record of the expiry date. To be honest as goodwill you would think they would of said no problems you can still come in to swim being as it had only just expired. So card got thrown in the bin a waste of $40

Positive experience: Once had a 5 star review from a few years back, now updated to 3 star. Price to value ratio has slipped with ownership change. Also the requirement to pay to prove your hawkesbay living status is something I would expect from the gaming industry. What next, micro transactions in the form of coin operated showers.

Fantastic experience: What's not to like hot swim on the marine parade lots of pools to choose from lap pool, spa pool, warm pool with massaging jets, toddler pool , cold pool there is a steam room and a sauna and a gym can get a bit crowded in the weekends and holidays.

Pools were clean with a good variety including hot, cold and lane swim. Also visited steam room although sauna appeared quite full a lot of the time. Secure lockers available cheaply to store valuables which we also used while out on bike ride (sip, cycle, swim package). Really enjoyed

Fantastic experience: Had a fantastic time at the spa today! The facility is very clean, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The pools are great, with a range of temperatures from 30 to 40°C, perfect for relaxation. Free lockers are a nice bonus, and the ocean view is stunning. There’s also a coffee shop with snacks inside, though it closes at 3 PM.

Negative experience: My experience was OK. It wasn't great seeing staff eating at reception. This doesn't look professional. I work at a similar facility in Auckland, we definitely do have high standards. This may of been one off, but this was my observation.

Negative experience: This am at ocean spa very early on There was actually a woman sitting in the spa on her phone eating her breakfast On odd occasions she would point h er phone at us in the air as though she was videoing us. The staff attendant standing less than 2 metres away said nothing This is not our first encounter of people playing their music on their phones in the spa. Not very relaxing at all

Arrived at 8.30 charged $98 for 4 kids and 2 adults.at no point were we told on entry that they would b kicking us out of the pools at 9.00pm. We had 30 mins in the pool. My husband didn’t even have time to go to the spa. A total rip off. Spoke to the staff on the night, they said email management nothing. DO NOT GO HERE A TOTAL RIP OFF. Napier council u should b ashamed. 30mins for $98

Positive experience: Místo je pěkné a je super, že je tam také plavecký bazén. Ale když jsem zjistila, že lidi nechají jít do teplých bazénků a vířivek i v oblečení, rychle jsem utekla. Určitě bych doporučila více dbát na dodržování hygienických předpisů návštěvníky. Kavárna je moc hezká a personál milý a ochotný. Jídlo bylo dobré.

Fantastic experience: We visited Napier Ocean Spa around 4 PM as a family of four—my wife, our two sons, and myself. We took advantage of the family rate, which was a nice deal. The experience was fantastic as we got to enjoy a relaxing soak in the warm spa pools while gazing at the beautiful ocean. The price was affordable, and the warm water felt especially refreshing after a long time. One thing we particularly appreciated was that it wasn’t too crowded, which allowed us to fully enjoy the spa experience. There was also a lukewarm pool for the kids to play in, which kept them entertained for a good two hours. It was a comfortable and enjoyable visit for all of us. If we ever return to Napier, we would love to visit Ocean Spa again!

Negative experience: Way to expensive as for what it is and the pools are either hot as or freezing might be nice for a date but if you have kids don't bother go to onekawa instead they have way more fun and quarter of the price

Whilst the premise was nice and pools were clean and people were orderly, I think the size is what I feel could be that slightly bigger. Feeling mixed about prices however. As tourists, I think it's fine but unless you have a concession here as a local, this place is not really worth it?

Negative experience: 20 dollars for an adult isn’t just expensive it’s extortionate. Ocean Spa is a low level luxury facility. You’re still expected to pay for lockers or risking your belongings being stolen. Not only is your stuff at risk but now Ocean Spa is robbing you blind. Avoid this place and go to its much cheaper competitor. The staff is nice with what they have to put up with but whoever decided this was “fair” needs to be fired.

Fantastic experience: Our room was lovely. Good to see a recycle bin available. Restaurant Manger was attentive, and we enjoyed his positive energy.

Positive experience: I’ve been coming to Ocean Spa for quite a while and absolutely love the staff and facilities. However, I do feel that the sauna, steam room, and pools could be cleaner. It would be helpful to have signs reminding people to shower before using the sauna and pools, as well as between the sauna and the cold pool. My guess is that many people simply don’t think about it. But when you’re in the sauna, you’re sweating a lot, and then people head straight to the cold pool to rinse off. Ideally, everyone should be showering before entering both the pool and the sauna. I also appreciate the natural plants in the entrance and the gym, but it’s a shame that they’re not being cared for, even after I’ve mentioned it twice at reception to different staff members. It just takes a bit of attention—like taking them outside and hosing them down—so the leaves can breathe and the plants can get some water instead of being covered in dust and drying out.

Negative experience: Family paid $59 for 2adults one child, aged 10…..absolute daylight robbery especially when there is a POO in the pool & Management tell them they won’t remove it!!! Isn’t that against Health regulations, will never return & will ensure I tell all family & friends. You were warned people!!

Positive experience: Expensive!! Mold inside the steam room door. Dirt and floaties gathered in the main pool & spa pool. Since ratepayers have been hit hard with 40%+ increases, surely that would go into maintaining this? As for the men's changing rooms out of order(sorry for the inconvenience! But you still pay nearly double to enter!) The outdoor toilet is an absolute disgrace. NCC, stop robbing the locals and offer discounts like Splash planet does. Plenty of staff working. Ladies changing room a huge improvement.

Update - knocking off a few stars, this used to be a great place to go and quite classy, more recent times its gone way down hill and can be quite rough... cafe is nice and you might get a day when there are no gang members there, maybe not. Watch out for your stuff if you sit near the street... its known that thevies use a hook to reach through the bars and grab your handbag...

Negative experience: Visitors to napier yesterday. No changing rooms and as a disabled person this was terrible. Everyone was using the only disabled room to get changed leaving me going home in my trunks ....

Negative experience: Bucket load of money spent on the place things still not working. Sauna, jets in spa mens changing rooms. And entry cost almost doubled for nothing new.

Positive experience: Nice to see common sense has prevailed and prices are a little more affordable. Prices have gone through the roof, concessions aren't much better and only have a limited lifespan. Doubtful we will be able to afford to use this facility again.

Negative experience: This review has no reflection on the wonderful staff at Ocean Spa. In what universe is this puddle of Luke warm water worth $20 a visit. Since NCC took over the price has increased by a little over 90%. This is vile, underhanded and pernicious decision that will have unimaginable consequences for the health and happiness of Napier. A quick comparison exhibits that the AC Baths in Taupō charge $10, same with the Hastings equivalents. How did you justify this price increase? There has been no consultation with ratepayers or the community prior. Nor any consideration for different tiers of entry. I am dismayed at this blatant disregard for your constitutions who VOTED you in. Kirsten Wise & Councillors you’ll be hearing from me. This is a repugnant display of forced inequality on an enigmatic scale.

Negative experience: Since moving to Napier this year, I have loved visiting Ocean Spa every week. When family or friends visit, it is the place I take them as it is so nice and relaxing. I am so upset with the massive price increase. I certainly cannot afford to visit anymore and will not be recommending to family and friends

Positive experience: What a beautiful place. Everything is amazing. However, the price should be alot cheaper or free to the local people of its on private land but remember the land is on Customary Maori Land which is Un-extinguished title and cannot be disputed. Negative experience: We have been a regular customer at ocean spa. However, I was surprised and disappointed by the recent price increase from $11 to $20. This substantial hike seems to be too steep, especially considering that many loyal customers, including myself, are not happy about it. While I understand that businesses need to adjust prices occasionally, a nearly 100% increase is hard to justify. It affects my decision to continue using your services, and I fear it might drive away other regulars as well.
