Fantastic experience: Good Equipment, lots of room. Good space for stretching. They run classes. Good artificial patch for pushing sleds, lunges, box jumps. All in all, it's pretty good. I have not been there at its busy times.

Fantastic experience: Best gym. Best equipment. Cleanest facilities of any gym I have been going to for over 50 years. One year on and still easily the best gym I have been too over 51 years. Good equipment, good layout. But most of all amazing staff. They are always busy cleaning and doing things around the place. No hanging around looking cool or bored. AND. Last two Sundays I have come across the, contracted I suspect, cleaner. What an incredible job he does. Thanks again to City Fitness Whanganui. Allan

Fantastic experience: I've only been to the aukland cbd branch so far. It's incomparably clean, and the equipment is better. It's also a great environment to focus on exercise.

Negative experience: Has a broken vending machine that they’ve neglected to put any out of order signage on. Bit scammy - make sure not to use it. Facilities and equipment are otherwise good.

Positive experience: Im an orginal member dating back to 2020 when the gym opened. Its a Good Gym, Modern Equipment, very clean, friendly staff. Whanganui probably needs two City Fitness as it's by far the most popular gym across all age groups. 2025 update the gym gets a 3 star rating, there are far too many teenagers in groups hurling around equipment, there's unclean, smelly people coming into the gym and gym staff are not pulling members up for either of these. Great staff tho!

Fantastic experience: I go to a lot of City Fitnesses around the country. This is my favourite one as it's a big open space with high ceilings and has a good range of machines and weights; and I see them cleaning alot more often than at other City Fitnesses. I wish they had an Abundance Yoga Studio here.

Fantastic experience: I like this gym. Lots of equipment in good condtion. However people often spend a good 10 to 20 minutes hogging the machines that I want to use by using 2/3 of that time looking at their phones instead of working out on the machine....but that happens everywhere.

Negative experience: Me and my friend went in to test out the gym for the first time and they turned us away because we aren’t 18 even though there website clearly says that your 15 year old are allowed at the gym

Negative experience: This gym has nice new equipment, but they are generally being used by young people spending 3/4 of their time on their phones or talking to friends instead of using the machines. (Seriously, I timed a few). Management refuses to do anything about it. So good luck using their equipment during any high-use times.

Fantastic experience: Always clean with friendly staff. The 24/7 access works really well for me and the pricing is reasonable. At times I find I have to wait for equipment (some extra's would be great) but it's a very popular gym and you don't have to look hard to see why

And when you try and cancel they take your card back even though you have to give 30days notice, then they still dont stop your payments and try and tell you you are locked in for a year, even though you on a black membership which is flexi

Fantastic experience: Great gym, all new equipment, lots of space, great facilities and really friendly staff. Also great prices for memberships. So far everyone has been really nice too, so don't be intimidated by the people there. Do bear in mind that it can be VERY busy at prime times, so choose your time wisely. Classes like crossfit and aerobics are available if that's your jam. Recommend checking this place out if you're looking to join a gym.
