Fantastic experience: Absolutely the Best Gym in Auckland! I've been to many gyms over the years, but this couple-owned and operated gym stands out as the absolute best. Ruth and BJ have created something truly special — a welcoming, motivating, and down-to-earth environment where people are serious about their fitness and genuinely supportive of one another. BJ, the personal trainer, has helped me make real progress toward my fitness goals — more than I expected when I started. Their approach is not driven by greed but by genuine care and passion for helping others succeed. The community they’ve built is strong — everyone greets you, and the energy is contagious. If you're looking for a gym in Auckland that delivers results and feels like home, this is it.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym (something I never thought I would say ) it’s a place where everyone wants to see each other win. Whether you want to be the strongest, lift insane weights, train for the next hyrox, you can do it all here! The equipment is great, the classes are great but it’s the community that’s been created here that keeps me coming back. A true reflection of the owners/coaches we have here, it’s supportive, encouraging, crack up & kind. You won’t regret joining Decile One, it’s truly something special

Fantastic experience: Just started going to Decile One Gym beginning of this year. Family was coming here, they started here on a 12 week Challenge, I could see that they were enjoying it and could also see the results too 5.45am Functional and Hypertrophy classes are the ones I come too and they are the BEST Hard but really good, you've got the best coaches, mean vibes, music on point and everyone just encouraging eachother - and this is why I like coming to Decile One - straight fams here. Faafetai tele lava Ruth, BJ and A'e for making me feel welcome esp the support, guidance and kindness you've shown me since I've started here. The Best in the West!! And also the protein shakes here are the BOMB

Fantastic experience: Decile One is the best gym in Auckland and becoming a member has been a real game changer for me (and so many others)! The gym itself caters to a whole range of fitness interests and levels - massive gym floor with all types of equipment, functional fit, hypertrophy, and strongman classes with awesome trainers and classmates, PT programming, kids area, and showers etc. Honestly everything you’d ever need! Ruth and BJ have created such a welcoming and supportive environment, unlike any other gym I have been to before. The Decile One community is friendly and kind; no judgement from anyone there, only encouragement and support! Private gyms can be more intimidating than chain gyms, but Decile One have gone out of their way to make their gym a community for all. No matter your fitness level or interests, you will find a community of caring and interested people at Decile One who will help you reach your goals in a way that suits you.

The equipment is top-notch – modern, well-maintained, and there's always enough to go around But what really sets this place apart is the incredible sense of community. Everyone is friendly and encouraging, and I've made some great friendships here. The owners are amazing – they're always approachable, helpful, and genuinely invested in their members' fitness journeys. Negative experience: I recently returned to a gym space that once felt like home — a place where I put in the work, earned respect, and believed in the community. But this time around, it was different. The energy had shifted. There was no warmth, no acknowledgment — just cold glances and quiet exclusion. For people who claim to lead and grow this sport, BJ and Ruth, you’ve forgotten what real leadership looks like. Strongman isn’t just about lifting heavy — it’s about lifting each other. And when athletes who once gave everything walk in and are treated like they’re invisible, that speaks volumes. You can promote growth all you want, but if your culture lacks connection, respect, and mana — it’s empty. I hope things change for the better. But for me, the door’s already closed.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been to a couple of gyms, and Decile One has got to be one of the best gyms—highly underrated and such a hidden gem. It has a full range of equipment for all sorts of training, including bodybuilding, functional fitness, Strongman, etc. One thing that I really appreciate is the owners. Gym equipment can be intimidating, but Ruth and BJ are more than happy to show you how to use the machines while also making sure you're targeting the right muscle group for the intended exercise. Training with intention is a key value that Decile One provides.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym. It doesn’t look big from the street, but inside it’s huge and offers sooo much. It’s non-threatening, there are not people sitting in the mirror taking selfies all day like other gyms, AND there’s a good range of gear. I think one of the most helpful features for is that there’s a kids area where they can play, watch movies or just hang. The staff are knowledgeable and go above and beyond to help. You have all levels of fitness here while offering a wide range of specialised gear. A great place To call home

(as girlie that loves to train glutes we love to see it!) Decile One has everything you could possibly need for strength training, hyrox, cardio, and crossfit, functional fitness, Strongman!! The limits are endless and they also run classes with the most supportive knowledgable coaches for whatever you're into!! It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into ensuring a variety of high-quality gear that caters to every fitness level. As someone who’s been training for two months, I’ve had the pleasure of taking their strongman classes and even working one-on-one with BJ, a phenomenal personal trainer. I can’t recommend this place enough—it’s worth every second and every penny.

Fantastic experience: Great Gym! Pros: - Awesome, friendly people and staff - Plenty of machines and space to work out in - Not overly busy - Shower facility and toilets - Yum shakes on site and cool merch - Signup was easy peasy - Well ventilated - Exclusive 'strongman' section of the gym for those who get ultra serious about crossfit, powerlifting etc. Will cost you a bit more on membership but standard members can't use it won't be in your way. - Plenty of parking and is wheel chair accessible. If the slide doors open. If it isn't, getting through the single front door might be a little tricky. Cons: - Cancelling a membership is a little annoying as needs to be done through debit success but nothing deal-breaking - Not open 24 hrs - Isn't the cheapest membership out there. But its not crowded so I didn't mind - All the times I messaged them on their phone, I never received a reply. I can respect that they probably get busy with admin responsibilities and whatnot. Especially going into Summer. But not a single text reply over the span of 6 days is a bit poor. Even just to say why you can't reply. Ah well. The nature of my call was about cancellation so they probably didn't bother since its supposed to be done through debitsuccess haha.

Fantastic experience: Hands down the most inclusive and enjoyable gym I’ve ever been to! Finding Decile One was one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. I had tried many others in the past but they never stuck, but now I’m a 5+ day a week gym girlie and have been for 4 years now thanks to the comfortable and supportive environment at Decile One. Kids area, CrossFit, bodybuilding to strength sports or general health & fitness. The staff and owners will go out of their way to help anyone out! Friendly environment & good vibes!

Fantastic experience: This gym is everything. I feel stronger just looking at my membership card. Incredible setup (but you already knew that if you’ve seen any of their other reviews!), decent banter and a kids space. Staff are warm, welcoming and encouraging regardless of your experience level.

Fantastic experience: Have been a member at Decile One for over 5years & love it. A huge space with all the equipment for whatever your goals are. Cardio, weight loss, strength training, bodybuilding, strongman - this is the spot. Cool little play area for the littlies to hang out so parents can have their 'me' time too. The owners have created a close-knit community, and a great vibe amongst it's members.

Fantastic experience: My partner and I have been going to Decile One as our primary gym since the pandemic, and it remains one of the best gyms we've visited. The gym has a varied and robust range of equipment for bodybuilding, powerlifting and strongman training, including many items that we've pined for at other gyms. The owners are fantastic, the atmosphere is positive and judgement-free, and it's home to many of the strongest people in the country. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Huge gym. Has a kids area tucked away. Lots of machines that are really useful that new gyms don’t have anymore. Would def come back!

Negative experience: Gym equipment, space and facilities good. Communication TERRIBLE. I am unable to go anymore since moving.. Have been trying to cancel my membership for over 2 years by calling and email but I get no response at all and am still being charged.

Positive experience: Authentic Bodybuilding / Strongman Gym vibes. Also with a dedicated Crossfit area. Gym has all types of machines (some i'd never seen before/glad they had) & classic iron dumbbells. Would recommend for getting a pump however byo headphones as music is quiet or not playing at all.
