Come visit Sweat Yoga Newmarket Auckland, a brand new yoga studio where we practice bikram yoga and power vinyasa yoga. Special deals now on!
Come and visit our purpose built studio space, where the yoga we practice is hot! Whether you are brand new to yoga or a dedicated practitioner, our teachers are here to support you on your yoga journey.
We practice a Hatha style of yoga, traditionally known as Bikram, along with Power Vinyasa. Both of these styles are, in their own unique ways, designed to help you achieve functional strength, cardiovascular fitness and a calm, focused mind. Both practices benefit greatly from being practiced in a heated room. Yes, you will sweat! If this is new for you, give yourself a chance to acclimatise and we trust you will grow to love it.
Complement your hot practice with our cooler (taught at room temperature) Yin classes. This is a slower paced, deeply meditative practice with deliciously long holds. Restorative, healing, nourishing…
We have designed our space with our community of busy yogis in mind – including bigger and better bathrooms to make your pre and post class time as smooth and stress free as possible.
Our yoga is intended to be challenging but the beauty is that each person can adapt it to suit his or her own body. Each body will take the poses differently. Simply be fully present in your practice, keep an open mind; you will come to know what your body needs on that day.
Each of the styles we offer is unique in its own way. Some of our students love to change between the different styles, others have their favourite that they like to stick to. Experiment with what works for you!
Choose from either the 60 minute or 90 minute duration. For beginners, don’t be put off by the slightly longer class as this can be just what you need to grow in your understanding of the postures.
Power Vinyasa has been described as “the perfect blend of sweat and serenity”. In this style of yoga, the poses are linked together by connective momentum or flow.
The practice starts with several rounds of sun salutations, getting the blood pumping and breath flowing, and generating internal heat to melt away tension.
We then move into a variety of other postures designed to increase vital energy, and provide a sense of groundedness and balance. Move through the postures with a steady, rhythmic breath, matching your breath to the movement. As you develop your proficiency in this practice, you will find that you move out of your head and into your body, cultivating a meditative frame of mind.
Yin is the perfect balance to our other ‘yang’ styles of yoga. A subtle but profound practice, Yin is an opportunity to develop inner awareness. With deliciously long holds of 3 minutes or more, these restorative poses will open the thicker layers of connective tissues around the joints, unravelling areas of tension that a dynamic yoga practice can not always access. Get super comfy with the support of blocks, bolsters and pillows and sink into your practice. Refine the observation of your feelings without identifying them, as you move into stillness, deep relaxation and serenity. Come and create space for yourself, in both body and mind.

Sweat Yoga: Opinions
Fantastic experience: My husband and I joined Sweat Yoga last year and couldn’t speak higher of the wonderful instructors. I was always a little hesitant joining a yoga studio but Emily and the entire team made us so welcome that we feel “addicted!”
Negative experience: Emily was incredibly rude. Was my first time and I wasn’t briefed that phones not allowed in the studio despite seeing everyone else brought in their phone. I used it to check the time during class and Emily thought appropriate (knowing I was new) to scold me in front of other members and was incredibly condescending and rude and asked me what I was doing on my phone and told me I needed to ask for her permission to bring phone in- unbelievable. Understand if company policy don’t want people bringing in phones but if that’s the case tell new members before hand and if mistake happens- communicate with respect - no need to scold and embarrass. Felt very unwelcome and would not come here again or recommend to others because of this experience - especially if you’re a shy person and taking a step out of your comfort zone! Lots of other studios that are much more welcoming.
Hi there Julia. I’m deeply sorry you didn’t have the best first experience at our studio. I totally understand it can be nerve wracking trying something totally new. We do have a no phone use during class policy. This is due to it being a distraction to others and yourself. We take pride in creating a sacred, welcoming and safe place for everyone who enters our studio. Sometimes it’s the only chance people get to completely disconnect. Texting through class and checking your phone affects the experience for everyone, which I’m sure you can understand. You will find no phone use in class to be a common protocol at most yoga studios across the world. We are totally happy to offer you a free class if you wish to give us another go. If it would make you feel more comfortable to bring a friend along also, that’s no problem. Just get in touch and we’ll look after you. Warm regards,Team Sweat
Fantastic experience: I had the pleasure of learning from some exceptional instructors at Sweat Studio—Scarlet, Yuka, Brooke and Belen(Pilates). Each one would undoubtedly be a favorite at any other studio. Through their guidance, I discovered that yoga is fundamentally about technical strength, not just folding or bending. The benefits of yoga come from using your muscles to stretch and lengthen, addressing the root cause of tightness, which is often muscle imbalance. It's not about being strong or flexible but about balancing muscle strength for better overall body function. Building on this, I highly recommend booking a class with one of the exceptionally knowledgeable and incredibly talented unicorn instructors, Maria Munkowits or Barbara Orrego. These ladies have an extraordinary understanding of the purpose of each pose. They grasp the intricate details and critical movements needed for all body types, constraints, mindsets, and available space to help everyone in the class get to where they need to. Sometimes, it felt like the placement of a pinkie finger could change the feeling of an entire pose. Maria’s Vinyasa flows are magical, connecting and combining poses in an incredibly light and easy way. Key Takeaways from My Experience (mid-30s female, rock climber, 45-hour-a-week corporate gremlin): *After 43 sessions, I now have abs. *I started my yoga challenge to stop my knees and hips from hurting but discovered that the real issue was tightness in my mid-back. *Trust the process of getting into each pose. Every step is vital. Master each step before moving on, and the pose will serve you. Simply getting into the final pose is useless. Listen to the instructions carefully, then move your body accordingly. *Use the mirrors; no one is looking at you. Everyone is focused on themselves and their own pose. *The app-based booking, cancelling, and check-in system is a game-changer for scheduling, knowing the number of participants in class, and managing other time commitments. *Parking wasn’t hard work or difficult to find. A Few Words of Warning for Newcomers: *Sweat Studio is not a Lululemon fashion parade. The community here is focused on the practice, not only Instagram posts. (Though there is plenty of Lululemon because it’s functional!) *Don’t expect other studios to have as many capable instructors. Manage your expectations =). *Do not bring your phone into the studio. It’s rude to others, insulting to the instructor, and distracting. I could have probably just written: Sweat Studio offers a surprisingly exceptional yoga experience with a focus on technical strength and an inviting community. Highly recommended! – but I could’ve also written a lot more.

Negative experience: Arrived, no parking so tried to find parking further up the road, came back and was locked out :(( no one to help gain entrance. So sadly didn’t experience the great things other reviews talked about, which was disappointing. Should put in a notification on ClassPass that doors will be locked as soon as sessions start
Hi Jenny! So sorry to hear you struggled to find a park and missed your class! There is normally plenty of street parking at 6.30am. We also have 10 car parks upstairs. Happy to show you next time where they are, you normally have to arrive early to secure one. We do lock the door at the beginning of class. This is for health and safety and to prevent the disruption of everyone else in class . Our doors open 30mins before each class and we recommend arriving at least 15mins before class starts to give yourself time to find a park, set up your mat, fill up your water bottle and get comfortable. I see you booked via class pass but If you wish to come in for a class on us get in touch. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Love this place sooooo much. Many classes to choice from, my favs are the 45 min HIIT Hot Pilates and the 60 min hot 26-2 yoga. All the instructors are supportive, fun, exciting and make each class an awesome experience. All ways nice to walk in and be greeted by Bruce, even get to chat a bit of Rugby
Thank you so much Toby! You’re an inspiration in class! Keep smashing it
Fantastic experience: Wonderful teachers, an inclusive & welcoming community and Hot HIIT Pilates is the best workout around - I absolutely love it at Sweat. Very easy parking on the surrounding streets too.
Thank you Rebecca! We appreciate you!
Fantastic experience: My favorite yoga studio in Auckland! love it! Good vibes !positive energy! meet new friends :)
Love this! Thank you !
Negative experience: Don't get cheated! Most of the Google reviews are more than a year old. They locked me out! This is literally terrible customer service ever! I got late at work and arrived 10 minutes late to class. Isn't this a genuine reason any normal person might have. They literally locked me out!!! The person who spoke to me was extremely Rude! Snobbish! Zero Respect! Imagine you are paying for a good session after a long day and you are being locked into. He said they lock the door for security reasons. Well in that case - first speak politely! I paid so atleast give me an option to defer to another time slot! And you can always open the door from remote access. You know what? There are much better fitness care providers than you, who make the customer feel good. So I hope you learn some basic customer response ethics!
Hi Brahmani! So sorry to hear you were late at work and missed your class! Nothing worse. We do lock the door at the beginning of class. This is for health and safety. Our doors open 30mins before each class and we recommend arriving at least 15mins before class starts to give yourself time to set up your mat and get comfortable. We do not have remote access. We are a boutique family run yoga studio not a 24 hour gym. We take pride in catering for our community as much as possible and would happily give you a complimentary class due to missing this one. All the best.

Fantastic experience: Bruce and the team have created a very friendly, efficient and positive environment, would recommend Sweat Yoga to anyone looking for a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Jim
Fantastic experience: The best Yoga/Pilates studio in Auckland!! I have been here since it opened and I’ve enjoyed every workout I have had here. The teachers here are so friendly and kind and plan the funnest workouts. I really enjoy going to the hot Pilates and power classes and would recommend this studio to everyone!
Fantastic experience: In January 2020 I signed up for the 2 week trial as I have never tried hot yoga before, and wanted to challenge myself, and in the process completely fell in love with it. Bruce and his fellow instructors are all so welcoming, happy to help and instantly make you feel part of their tribe. After just a month of classes I have noticed not only physical but mental changes and look forward to every single class. They offer a variety of yoga and it doesn't matter if you are a beginner like me, or a pro, you will love Sweat Yoga
Fantastic experience: Great studio and facilities, but it's the staff and fellow members whom make that special difference. Positive happy environment, professional staff who cater for all from beginners to pros; often bring friends with me and would highly recommend giving a trial class a go to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Love this Pilates & yoga studio! The teachers are fantastic & always got new routines & music which makes the 1 hours super hot class go really fast. Love that they have now introduced level 2 with the Pilates too. Thanks you Bruce & your great team. Especially Emily xx
Fantastic experience: Been going to Sweat yoga since it opened...it's the best studio you will find around. The teachers are great, the studio clean and fresh. I do the Hot 60 class and the Hot Pilates Class at 6.30am most weekdays. It's a great way start the day and stay in-shape, flexible and fit. I highly recommend this practice...it's hard, challenging but worth it. Come along, commit to a few classes within one week as it takes a while to acclimatize to exercise with heat. Try to make it part of your life, it's really worth it.
Fantastic experience: I love this studio! I always leave feeling like I got a solid workout. The teachers are amazing and push you to your fullest potential. Added bonus, the locker room is actually big enough to support the people who come to class. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes to sweat!!!
Negative experience: Not good experience.Reception staff is rude .
Hi Pooja I’m really sorry you had a bad experience. I sent you a text message to find out more details around what happened so we can do better next time. We would like to offer you and a friend a free class if you would like to come back and give us another try . We want everyone who comes through the doors at Sweat to have a great experience from start to finish. We hope you will give us another try.
Fantastic experience: It's a great studio with lots of different classes and the teachers are fantastic!
Fantastic experience: A really superb hot yoga studio - highly recommended. I have come over from Sydney on a long trip to Auckland, and decided to try out this studio. I had previously practised at the East West studio (also owned by Bruce) which had been mainly bikram yoga and some vinyasa classes, and had liked that studio too. When that studio closed, this one opened. But this studio is something else. If you want to get really fit and strong, this is THE PLACE. The level of the teaching is very high, and all the classes are extremely challenging - which is fantastic. In Sydney there are rather too many 'beginner'-focused studios, which fail to stimulate. This is the complete opposite. Obviously for those familiar with bikram, this is hard core, AND challenging. There is a 60 minute and a 90 minute class. The hot pilates is fantastic, while the hot vinyasa is really great. You will never be bored here. I have come every day during the 2 week trial offer (a bargain), and have loved every single class. What are you waiting for?
Fantastic experience: First time trying Hot Yoga & Pilates. I’ve enjoyed every class since! Great workout, very friendly and helpful instructors/staff who care that you are practicing correctly. Clean showers and overall a comfortable facility.
Fantastic experience: The best yoga and hot pilates studio in Auckland. Bruce and the teachers have created a lovely sense of community here, and the classes are the best I've had in a decade of practicing in NZ. The showers are good too, great water pressure.
Fantastic experience: Great people and a great studio. They're introducing new Hot Pilates classes, as well as Bikram and Vinyasa. Awesome bathrooms and showers, which means I can go straight to work from the studio. Cheers guys.
