Oasis Motel & Hot pools complex

Fantastic experience: We had a great stay here with our teenager and younger child. Loved the 24/7 hot pools and cool pool, where you could pick the temperature to suit. Playground and animals were cool. Great location for walks to the thermal pool walk, the rivers, Maunganamu, the lake and a short drive to other walks like Rotopounamu and a trip to Turangi for fish’n’chips.

Negative experience: Stayed for one night with a campervan. Kitchen was very neglected, with barely any equipment, and the stove didn’t work. Only one hot pool was actually hot, and it had dead bugs floating in it. Showers were in bad shape. Wifi didn’t reach the campervan parking. Overall, a very neglected place, that isn’t worth the price

Fantastic experience: Our little family had an amazing time. Mark and Jo were awesome and lovley and kind people run a very safe environment and family friendly, they were very accomodating helpful and lovley people and beautiful quiet relaxing place to stay, we love this place. Place has been renevated and the baths were just amazing after a long day and refilled and refreshed while we were staying there and rickybaker is cute (hes the floofball), all the animals were awesome. We had such a amazing relaxing time there 3 weeks ago. Thanks heaps. We will definatley be back again soon. Again thanks Mark and Jo for such an amazing stay. Cant imagine why people are saying bad reviews this place is great close to town has great owners and great location bequtiful mineral spa baths and confortable amenaties. Positive experience: Had a nice a quiet stay here for a night (noted it is winter). Reception was very kind and for the price to park my van and use the facilities was very affordable. The spa and pool was very relaxing. Everything is not the best condition as I believe there isn’t many hands to keep up the conditions but nonetheless was a peaceful stay :)

Negative experience: Just drop by as we have kids in the car needed toilets, however whoever has came approached us is very aggressive and start punching my partner and kicking the car. We have travelled many places in New Zealand and this is the most aggressive kiwi I have encountered. We took the chance to educate our children that it is the problem of aggressive person who might not have a good day, but we don’t need to be responsible for their behaviour.

Fantastic experience: Awesome wee gem..booked in for 1 night ended up staying 6. Hosts Mark & Jo awesome, hats off to them for what they are doing. Lovely hotpools & facilities, didnt want to leave. Will definitely be back.

Negative experience: You have probably read reviews and wondered how a place could be as bad as the reviewer states. Well this is one of those. When we arrived the windows were all open and breeze flowing through the accommodations. Despite this the musty odor was quite pronounced. At a glance the place looked clean though rundown. No doubt it was a large area. We booked this room because in communication with management months before it had AC, though not in sleeping areas which was made clear this is what we needed. We went out the next day to explore Tongariro National Park. When we returned we found our bread on the floor and apples nibbled on. First kitchen picture is how we left it. If I haven't convinced you not to stay here read on. When this was reported to staff they offered to replace the items. We agreed to accept replacement of the bread however the apples we declined. Replacement bread was brought to us by the same staff member. When we also pointed out rodent fecal matter. It was picked up by hand and any knowledge of the issues denied. No offer was made to vacuum the floor where other fecal matter was reported or to clean the counter surfaces. On check out I reported my disappointment again, "no one is more disappointed than I am, a group was in there for four days with no issues." See email from local environmental health team leader posted as picture refutes this statement. Rooms: Poorly maintained. Musty odor despite all windows open. Carpeted floor with mouse droppings. Fantastic experience: 24hr access to hot mineral pools, fenced kids playground and friendly staff. Everything a family wants when travelling. We camped with our caravan and it was perfect for us. Our kids enjoyed the pool and the animals. It's not flash but the pricing reflects that. Will definitely stay again.

Negative experience: Place is okay, we stayed on the campsite one night. I really like the peaceful atmosphere and the pool! Minuses: peacock scratched my car in few places and shower was extremely hot - really hard to take one. Not good communication with the owner. Don't stay longer than check out time, even for 5 mins, owners are not chilled with that!

Fantastic experience: It is really the best place! Camping with 24 hr access to mineral pools for a family of four for a little bit more than the price of a feed at maccas. Awesome managers too!

Fantastic experience: We have had a great time here! The pools are great, kids loved the trampolines amd the animals. Our room is fine, just what we need. Kitchen has what we need, the beds are comfortable, towels and soap are supplied, there are snacks you can purchase at reception and the owners are lovely. I don't see what all the bad reviews are about. The motel isn't in the middle of "nowhere" as some reviews have stated, it's simply a 5 min drive from Turangi township. Great for kids and it's safe, they close the gates at night too. Then pools are also open 24/7. Great place to stay!

Negative experience: Really bad service, low facilities and the worst part was the people, the man was threatening us to leave and didn’t stop say “fuck you” every 5 seconds. We payed even extra for late check out but he was losing his mind. Don’t come here

Positive experience: Noisy with no sound proofing between rooms. Someone was having a loud conversation outside our room and then we heard glass breaking. Beds are poor and uncomfortable. Nearby activities: Turangi was not staffed for how many people were there. We tried six restaurants for dinner before going to the grocery to scrounge for food.

Positive experience: Little holiday park with all the items & services for a great comfortable stay. Recommend bringing something for a breakfast. All other amenities available to cook. Rooms: Hot water insulation in the room was great.

Fantastic experience: My whanau and I had the pleasure of spending the weekend at Oasis we enjoyed our stay here at this family friendly environment, it had loads to offer including BBQ area, heated and cold pools, playground, gym and even a petting zoo with friendly animals we could touch and play with even feed them, the owners were amazing they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable even cooking our diner and delivering it to our room after our afternoon swim at the pools. We will forsure return and recommend the Oasis Turangi for you and your whanau.

Negative experience: Unfortunately I would not recommend this place for families. The pools and the area itself were dirty, the toilet facilities were not up to standard. Very poor care of the animals. The owners were very rude and very difficult to deal with. If you’re looking for an expensive dirty place to stay then the oasis is your place.

Negative experience: We got there the room was very cold no hot water very little cutlery no teatowel had to go see management to fix these issues in my opinion this is not a 4 star motel . I think it would be a good thing to just cop it on the chin and learn what other people are saying

Fantastic experience: Have spent the last couple of New Year's at Oasis and have loved the laid back nature of the staff and being able to switch off and relax in the hot pools after a day on the lake! Highly recommended and will be back this year!

Negative experience: We stayed at the Oasis Motel on May 13, 2023, in the studio room. The lady at the desk said the booking was under "phone call". The toilet was dirty, it had not been cleaned. It was gross. We won't stay here again.

Fantastic experience: Asthetically not a 'top of the line' motel...BUT... the people were friendly, .the service was great.. the bed was as comfortable as can be, plenty of pillows and towels. Breakfast was made exactly to my request..and to top it off...it was so clean, you could eat off the floor !! .I absolutely recommend Oasis.

Negative experience: Unfortunately not up to Standard very run down *Reception was dirty and stunk like cats *communal kitchen was so dirty *baked on food around the elements *Floor not swept or mopped in a very long time. *dishes not packed away *there was no way I could stomach to stand in that kitchen let alone cook in it. *Stated oven in studio (but no oven) *hot pools dirty *couple fighting *outdoor seated area a real mess *room was clean and tidy Everything else is a real mess We were therefor 20mins and checked out.. Thankfully we received a refund. Unfortunately I would avoid this placeat all costs

Positive experience: If you are wanting to have a quiet stop over between the likes of Auckland to Wellington then this Oasis is the place. Once price per person covers all facilities. Hot pools and cold plunge pool tickle the hairs on your chest. Peacocks hang round your door to see what's offering. Caravan and motorhome sites (e-power included) are flat and slightly raised. Happy to stay over again.

Positive experience: Almost a great place. They have motel rooms, powered sites, hot pools, a kitchen and bbqs. The showers are hot, free and unlimited The bathrooms next to the pools are modern, the other ones are quite old. Since several of their guest seem not to be interested in keeping things nice, the owners need to manage that kitchen and toilets are always clean which they weren’t during our stay. The WiFi does not reach to the campsites and is limited to 2GB per voucher We paid 25$ per person for a powered site which is quite expensive in my opinion.

Negative experience: My family and I stayed here back in February for a night. The room itself was fine. Didn't really have an issue with it, even though the bathroom was a little small. The location is kind of in the middle of nowhere, not great, but it worked for our purposes. However, the service was absolutely awful and I can't give more than 1 star overall because of this. We arrived to check in at around 10 PM and called the reception. The guy hung up on us a couple times, and then came outside to yell at us. He was very angry and rude, swearing at us and saying "we should have called earlier." The room was already paid for and we just needed the room key. But I guess he was angry we dared to disturb him. We had specifically selected late check-in (after 10 PM) when we booked the room. In any case, very unprofessional and abhorrent behavior. Would not recommend staying here.

Fantastic experience: We enjoyed our one night stay here in mid-September, en route to Taihape. Great place to break journey. The owners were friendly and very responsive to our queries, in particular when we had difficulty accessing the wifi and also requesting a bulb change. The room was clean, black out curtains were available, beds super comfy, parking right outside our unit. The kitchenette was very handy. It was perfect for our family of 4, including a 4 and 2 year old. Prior to leaving the host offered us advice to drive safely on the windy roads, for which we were grateful. Thank you.

Negative experience: My feedback is that I booked a 4 night stay in January for mid April and volunteered a $136 deposit to do the decent thing. I canceled the booking a week later still in January owing to the Intel I received that this motel was housing the homeless payed for by the Governmentt. I was told that he would refund. I visited 11th April as he had not replied to follow up from me. He lately refused to refund. I had canceled nearly 3 months before intended occupancy. This place and its manager is disgrace. Am taking him to Small Claims Court as well as informing the NZMCA membership of over 130,000 caravans in the next magazine. Don't stay here. Better by far accommodation in Turangi.

Fantastic experience: Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, we stayed in the family unit and 2x self contained units: outstanding - rooms were nice and clean and beds we’re comfortable and fitted with their own private bathrooms and tv/sky. Mineral hot tubs were amazing and free to use and lastly the owner/ staff were awesome, great customer service and lastly great value for money. Will be back again!

Negative experience: I wish we had stayed long enough to take pics. Definitely not 4 stars. It was cold, dinghy and run down. There was something splattered on the wall just inside the door. The lounge chairs were unusable and TV didn't work. I queried the 4 star rating and that I didn't feel I was at the same place I saw on the website. They pointed out the pics are of the room and they don't do the ratings. They were offended I even asked and when my husband went back to ask about the TV the male owner came out pointing his finger rudely at my husband and was just combative. It wasn't an environment we could stay in. We tried 5 other places in turangi and the standard and behaviors of the owners at oasis motels is very well known. Buyer beware DO NOT STAY HERE.

Fantastic experience: The woman at the office is lovely and you feel welcoming ☺ Pools are rustic but amazing after a taff day. Very nice area flat with grass and few animals !! We enjoyed this little camping!

We enjoyed the view and everyone there are so friendly it just felt like being around whanau. Negative experience: Incredibly rude to me and my partner. Used to frequent oasis quite a bit but will never be going back after the way the staff talked to us. Unprofessional, rude and left my partner in tears. Never go here if you want to be treated with respect & like a human being.

Positive experience: Great budget priced accommodation centrally located for our bush walking trips. We have been here three times now and enjoyed the facilities and the friendly staff who are slowly upgrading the complex.

Negative experience: Dreadful. The shared facilities, kitchen and bathrooms were filthy. Dead flies everywhere, ants crawling all over the toilet block, dirty sinks, questionable marks on toilets, old dirty towels in the bathroom, dirty kitchen area, fridge and cooker. The hot pools are dark and dingy with dead flies, moths and a quite unpleasant greasy layer of scum. I have stayed in many cabin type accommodation in NZ and can only advise that the reader avoid this place like the plague.

Negative experience: Camp facilities need a good face-lift. Leaking hot taps. Shower mixers not working well. Everything needed a good paint and tidy up. Not appearing to look clean

Negative experience: The wifi wasn't working in the place, due to power problems. Can happen, but when we asked the owner he got angry, told us we should just get mobile data, and made rude remarks. After I told him this isn't how he should treat guests, he evicted us from the motel, threatening to call the security and police on us. Told me if I left a bad review he would leave a bad review in return, telling lies like saying i was aggressive or destructive to the place. Refunded us only part of the money we paid. Really bad experience...

Fantastic experience: I dont think many motel owner can keep and maintain the motel as it was 40 years ago, when family enjoyed simple family holiday, camping , spending time playing together, chatting with each other instead of chatting with someone on the nets, Many such motels are now have gone, Modern fittings, wifi etc are now expected to get 5 star recommendation. But I give 5 star to this motel for other reason, And that is for last 40 years of my visit ! I fully believe some people like me who enjoy timeless treasure without modern upgrade but not letting it run down nor smash up place of many happy nostalgic memories to be disregarded and rebuilding brand new buildings… I much like to embrace this timeless surviving and thriving nostalgic time capsule motel to be forever to exists! Owner should know how I was moved to tears when one particular pool, smaller public pool, is now once again filled with fresh hot mineral water after it was closed for many years.It was the pool my late mother particularly enjoyed some 40YEARS AGO..! So much harder to not let this motel to rundown to its age, owner is absolutely committed to make this place live forever. I feel Simplicity is the key to get people together ,and for me, single traveler, is the simplicity ground myself to my own self :)

Pools need some TLC.beware the cancellation policy if you cancel within 7 days, 50% made booking over the phone and wasn't made aware of this for return booking. Considering they were very quiet, a bit steep I think some TLC wi TLC

Positive experience: Great mineral pools. Beds comfortable. Walked up hill nearby. Dinner then hot pools and slept like a baby Saturday night. Drying room is very useful. Good kitchen facilities. Grandies enjoyed animals and the playground.

Negative experience: Unfortunately all is very dated and many things not working. Hot tubs were all cold as well as showers and main pool whilst lovely and hot was iron stained hot water that I was fine with but kids are not!!. Do not wear white togs and wash after use!! Kitchen had no hot water for dishes, had to use jug. Great bbq area for outside cooking, big bbq available for use. Insect repellant advised! Units are compact and like little ovens. Was grateful for fan in room and insect screens helped as window and door open all night. Tv only had limited channels and wifi was so slow we never used. Outdoor light outside window was annoying and needed blacking on unit side. Animal farm was shut when we arrived and still closed when we left so did not have close encounter. They all looked very interesting and had the history of them to view so would be worth a visit during open hours. Good cafe with good selection of food. Great location and with a little more fixing would be enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: Always a pleasure staying here. Love the spa & mineral pool. We've stayed in our bus & caravan a fee times & visited the pools many times over the years. We stayed in a cabin this time which was very comfortable & so spacious. Now a petting zoo has been added so we had that pleasure too.

Positive experience: Här får man känna att man bor på landsbygden. Ingen valfungerande wifi. Luftkonditionering fanns. Duschdraperi i badrummet var för kort, vattentryck var något låg. Personalen var snäll och vänlig men kunde inte hjälpa med internetuppkoppling. Rummen var rymliga.
