Negative experience: *Update: The disrespect for replying to me and claiming I'm lying and have never been here, rather than apologising or trying to discuss it with me, reflects my exact experience with them; wildly unprofessional. I attended said class with my friend, who's partner attended Shuriken actively and had nothing but positive things to say, so I came into it with excitement to try them out and left upset and uncomfortable. Do not come here unless you're experienced in fighting or actively looking to be disrespected. I came here about 2 years ago, to do a “kickboxing class, suitable for every level including beginners”. Was not super fit and didn’t know much about kickboxing, and immediately got told off for not having equipment like wraps or gloves on me (which i don’t own as I was beginner). Immediately felt very unwelcome. I Came with a friend to try and see if kickboxing was for us, and the trainers that were there barely gave us advice and focused on those who were more skilled even though it was a supposed “beginner” class. After getting laughed at, and not much assistance as far as improving by those in charge of the class I decided I would not come back as I was too sad and uncomfortable to attempt again. Put me off trying kickboxing overall.

They treat everyone, regardless of their level, as family and go out of their way to support the individuals training goals. It's amazing what happens when structure meets passion - I had the opportunity to roll with a few guys at every level and learned something from each one of them. Can't recommend this place enough, and I can't recommend the craft in any way that would do it justice. Stop reading reviews, and just show up. You will be welcomed. You will learn. And you will grow!

Fantastic experience: I've been coming to Shuriken for 9 months now and it's changed my life! So welcoming, classes for all levels and everyone is so supportive. Made a lot of friends and dropped 12 kgs! Highly recommend, give it a try, you wont recognise yourself in 6 months if truly commit yourself!
