Fantastic experience: Epic gym! Jose is super passionate and welcoming. There’s a great mix of people of all levels and a brilliant depth of knowledge. Lots of blacks, browns and purples. There's a mix of old school and new age knowledge and techniques. You'll get better, for sure. Everyone is generous and shares their skills. There ain't any dooshbags or ego. They do both Gi and No-Gi. The gym itself is very clean. Great ventilation. Great views. They have showers so bring a towel, a water cooler and the music is legit. If you are keen to learn about Jiu Jitsu, you must do the fundamentals course at this gym. Easily Queesntown’s best!

Fantastic experience: I was staying in Queenstown on holiday with my family and contacted Jose to see if I could drop in for a casual class/roll. He was super welcoming and I got to do a class with one of his instructors; Fabio. Drop in fee was $20 which was very reasonable. Fabio was very friendly and was attentive to my learning, choosing rolling partners and checking that I integrated well with the class. Great gym with showers, water cooler located near the Queenstown airport. Good mix of ranks and gender in the class. Thanks to everyone for the learning and the experience!

Fantastic experience: I dropped in and trained here for 2 weeks while I was on a long holiday. This gym is so friendly and welcoming! I highly recommend them if you are in Queenstown and looking to get some rolls in. There were a good mix of belts at every class I attended, and a solid number of women as well as a women's only class on Saturdays. I had a great time training here and wish I could have stay longer.

Fantastic experience: If you are travelling and missing your BJJ or live in Queenstown, then definitely come check out this gym. Clean facility with great instructors and members with lots of experience that supports people of all skill levels. I am from a Carlson Gracie gym in Canada so everything felt very familiar which was great. My favorite takeaway though was learning some new techniques for passing guard and completing armbar submissions. I look forward to sharing this new knowledge with my BJJ friends back home.

Fantastic experience: I've recently visited the gym for a casual class/roll as I was staying in Queenstown. I had an all levels class with professor Renan and I agree with professor Fabio, he is handsome lol. He started with a strong and long warm up session, followed by drills and finished with rolls. Good mix of people, men and women, some white belts like me and some graduated fellas. The facilities were tidy, the mat was spotless. The bathroom/shower area was clean as well. Fantastic experience: Great gym!! Was in Queenstown for 5 days for the snow. Last night and last day got to a No Gi and Gi class. Both instructors were very high level and detailed with their instructions. Both then got around the class and gave great one on one feedback on the drills. And a super friendly crew, with some good hard rolls makes an even better better experience. Definitely the place to train in Queenstown

The coach was able to make sure my friend was doing the techniques correctly without disrupting the pace of the class for the more experienced practitioners. I looked up the Carlson Gracie Bjj and asked if our kids could join a class, however no children's classes were scheduled over the school holidays. Emi and Brian asked for our contact details and within 1 hour they had organized an open mat for our kids to join the next day, with the blessing of the head Coach's Today we turned up to the class and everyone was so welcoming. The kids had a brilliant time - lots of laughter and then some serious work. Our kids are competent kids in the sport and they were tested. Fantastic experience: I started my Bjj journey just over three months ago at Carlson Gracie Invercargill. Since then I have been lucky enough to travel to Queenstown to train with other members of the CGNZ team, Jose always welcomes people to his gym with open arms and I walk out of a class feeling amazing! Fantastic experience: I have been training at Carlson Gracie New Zealand Queenstown for almost two years now, and I couldn't have felt more welcomed into the community of Jiu Jitsu. Although my partner has been training there for the past 10 years, I had to find my own grounds and feel comfortable in an environment I was unfamiliar with. I started with the Fundamentals Course learning to get the hang of the simple and basic movements in the sport and eventually graduating out of that program and into the beginners classes. This transition was extremely important to my development and I would highly recommend taking the course if this is the first time starting BJJ. Jose with his good spirit, kindness, and patience helped to advance my Jiu Jitsu from the very beginning. Whenever I had a question to be asked he is always willing to answer, and if he can't answer during the class he will make sure to speak with you after the session is over to explain. All the staff are friendly and have their own specialties within the sport which makes this academy a very special second home. Fantastic experience: This gym was my home for a year. Jose, the black belt / owner, is an amazing leader and practitioner. The community at this gym is very welcoming and conducive to learning. All levels are welcomed and there is a variety of classes and a growing student body. If you want to challenge yourself there is a host of high level competitors who frequent.
