Koshinkai Aikido Dojo is located in Auckland. The emphasis in Aikido training at Koshinkai is on non-competitive, co-operative and creative ways of learning principles that can be applied to daily life. Regular practice develops ‘calmness in action’ and the ability to relax when under stress. As a form of self-defence, Aikido gives equal if not greater importance to the inner aspects of dealing with conflict, as it does to the purely physical, technical aspects.

Fantastic experience: Koshinkai Aikido Dojo has been transformative for me. It's not just a place to learn martial arts; it's a place to grow, both physically and mentally. Justin Sensei is not just expert in Aikido but also incredibly dedicated and passionate about teaching this martial art. The sense of community and support among fellow Aikidokai is truly heartwarming. From beginners to advanced students, everyone is encouraged and supported in their journey. What sets Koshinkai apart is their emphasis on the holistic aspect of Aikido. It's not just about physical techniques but also about mental focus, discipline, and harmony. The classes are well-structured, offering a perfect balance of rigorous training and philosophical insights. The facility itself is top-notch, spacious, clean, and equipped with everything needed for a fulfilling practice session. Whether you're a beginner or have prior experience, this dojo caters to all skill levels with equal attention and care. If you're looking for a welcoming, authentic, and enriching Aikido experience, look no further than Koshinkai Aikido Dojo!

Fantastic experience: I’ve spent many years training in Koshinkai Aikido. Initially with David Lynch and now with Justin Lewis and I love it with a passion. I started Aikido after studying Taekwondo for 9 years and finding that my joints were just not up to high impact pursuits anymore. Additionally, something was just missing, I wanted more out of my martial arts. In Koshinkai Aikido I found the right balance of mental, spiritual and physical training to satisfy this need. Aikido can be practised by any age group and the techniques learnt can be readily applied to self defence in the real world without years of repetitive practice. In modern parlance, you hit the ground running. Aikido is non-competitive and very inclusive but at the same time incredibly effective. If you find me saying that to be odd or counter intuitive then come along to watch a training session and see what I mean. I’ve found Aikido life changing. I like to think that you will too. Fantastic experience: Really amazing dojo and instruction - I'm loving it. The quality of instruction is highly personalised, careful, and expert. The vibe is also moves in a thoughtful way through reflective calm moments to begin then through to energising and engaging. Unlike some of the bigger mcdojos out there, this place is genuinely interested in developing a life-long practice of Aikido and investing in its practitioners. I highly recommend this dojo to anyone interested in learning Aikido safely and thoroughly.
