School of Self Defence

Established in the 1920s as part of the Todd Group, we are proud to be New Zealand's premier experts in urban self-defense and military unarmed combat. Our founder and Chief Instructor, Geoff 'Tank' Todd, is a renowned Army Special Operations Close Combat Master Chief Instructor, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to our training programs.

Our classes are designed for civilians, law enforcement, security personnel, crowd controllers, and door staff, making our training accessible and relevant to a variety of self-defense needs. Led by a military Close Quarters Battle Master Instructor, our curriculum is rooted in proven techniques that prepare you for real-world situations. We also host an annual International Close Quarter Battle Course, which includes advanced instruction and certifications for those dedicated to mastering close combat techniques.
