Fantastic experience: Love this gym, this and the Cambridge flex fitness are the best gyms I’ve been to! Great range of high quality equipment, friendly staff, lots of space, heaps of vending options and a smoothie bar. I usually go during the day on weekdays and mornings on weekends, never any issues with it being crowded or having to wait for equipment.

Fantastic experience: The BEST gym in Hamilton! I’ve been here for 4 years and the gym is well maintained, clean and has top-notch equipment. What sets it apart is that it has the most supportive atmosphere. The staff, Abbe-Mayo and Aloha make you feel like family, they are so knowledgeable and supportive 5 stars isn’t enough

Fantastic experience: Went in while I was there for a few days from South Island, absolutely loved it there! Great staff and gym, helped me with my body scan also! Moving there in the next month or so, can’t wait to have this as my new daily gym!

Fantastic experience: Good gym, I haven't seen a vending machine for meal up until now! Very good view of Te Rapa. Also the buildings architecture is just beautiful. The smith machine does not have a counterweight but is angled.

Negative experience: thought i had left a review for this gym previously but hadn't - so leaving one now. avoid it at all costs. tl,dr: they allowed their direct debit company to steal $350 from me and did nothing about it to stop this happening or remedy fix it. they stole my entire living costs for that fortnight and acted like it wasn't their problem. i was a member of this gym four 3-4 years since shifting to hamilton and over all had a good experience when things were running smoothly there. however the minute i needed management to step in and do their jobs the cracks in this place really started to show. i had no issues until i rejoined and their direct debit company started issuing me with fines acting like i had not paid my memberships and taking money from my account constantly until i had none left. i contacted debit success and sent evidence along with a letter from my local branch manager all showing that my membership fee had left my account on every occassion that i was charged (as well as the many false "insufficient funds" charges they pinged me as well) direct debit said they would only deal with the gym so i took the issue up with the gym (all the while debit success was continually pulling my fortnightly gym fee from my account DAILY until i had no money left). they gym took it up with debit success and debit success tried to claim that i never had sufficient funds despite mounting evidence proving otherwise. the gym came back to me and said there was nothing they could do, which is completely untrue unless they don't embrace any customer service at all. they still use the same shoddy direct debit company who have a reputation for losing payments and continually drawing from clients accounts like they did with me. i lost 350$ in the space of about a week. the direct debit company didn't care, the gym didn't care. the gym attempted to say they couldn't do anything. i was never offered for the manager to get involved to investigate what was happening or to try and fix the situation. every cent of that 350$ that was taken beyond what i owed for the week should have been refunded but they did not offer that as an option and didn't care. the only way i was able to stop the continued theft from my account by the gym and debit success was to cancel the membership. even after my money being stolen they still had the nerve to charge me the full cancellation fee relevant to my membership. flex te rapa don't care about their members or their members experience or customer service. didn't persue it as it's not worth my time dealing with a manager, who in the hamilton fitness community, has a reputation as being horrendous to deal with.
Hi Rachel, thank you for taking the time to list your concerns here in this review. We understand you are frustrated with the situation that has occurred regarding your payments. We have revisited this issue as we still have all the emails regarding the incident on file. I (Hyrum, Club Manager) could actually recall this situation as I oversaw it and was consulted in regards to each email and reply. While I may not have replied directly myself this was also not requested in any of your contact. Our staff member was very diligent in assisting you taking care and consideration to reply to all your concerns and navigate between yourself and debitsuccess. As she was doing her job well there was no need to step in personally as she consulted with me at each step. In the emails you thanked her multiple times for her help. We supplied each response from debitsuccess outlining the exact reasons payments were failing. All evidence you supplied was given to debitsuccess and debitsuccess replied accordingly with us maintaining contact and help throughout. We paused payments while you made a decision on how you wanted to proceed as well to try and assist further and make the situation easier. In your emails you said you have had trouble with payments to debitsuccess with another business for a personal trainer. We have hundreds of members who have made payments with zero issues for years on end. Your issues seemed to stem from constantly leaving exact amounts that didn't line up with processing times and overlapped with other bills coming from the account resulting in insufficient funds reversals. With debitsuccess supplying sufficient reasoning to all of your concerns we still offered to pause payments while you decided how to proceed. When you decided to end your membership based on your previous experience with debitsuccess and this most recent experience we processed the cancellation as normal. We are more than happy to discuss this incident further and investigate it again. If it would make you feel better I am more than happy to reply and contact you directly myself instead of my staff. If you would like to do this I have sent you my email address so I can respond personally and we can revisit all the emails and evidence again. If you feel this was theft as you mentioned we will happily assist you in providing the emails from debitsuccess and ourselves in an application to any authority you would like to engage.
Negative experience: I have been a member of this gym for the past 7 months, and overall, my experience has been quite positive. However, I recently faced an issue with the guest policy that has left me feeling confused and disappointed. Every time I have brought a guest during staff hours in the past, they were simply required to fill out a form and were not asked to pay a fee. SURPRISINGLY, today the receptionist asked my guest to pay a $15 fee. Does has the policy changed!!!! If yes, why i have not received any update about it?!
Hi Roya, thanks for checking in with us about this issue.We do not have a guest policy as every person who trains at the gym needs to be a member or pay a casual fee of $15 and train during staffed hours. We do offer free day passes for people wanting to try out the gym if they are looking to join. These day passes are a one off and not given out repeatedly as they serve to give a potential member the chance to try out the gym not to simply access the gym for free. They are given out at our discretion or can be registered for and accepted at our discretion if they are being used correctly.This has always been in place and has not changed during our time operating this business.You can refer to your membership terms and conditions which were emailed to you upon joining or we can send them to you again for your information to read again regarding our policies.After looking into the issue further and talking with you it seems you assumed that we had a guest policy similar to another gym. We offered two of your friends a free day pass at our discretion based on info that was given to us in the past and you assumed this meant all guests would simply be free. When our staff member tried to explain our policy to you because you were confused as to why your recent guest needed to pay a fee you refused to listen to the explanation. We hope you now understand and have some clarity and can appreciate that two of your guests were already given free access to the gym.We hope you can continue to have a positive experience now that you have clarity on this issue.
Negative experience: Mandated their employee's out of jobs.

Here at Flex Flex Fitness Te Rapa no employees were mandated out of jobs although many businesses in our industry under government instructions unfortunately had to deal with that situation. Based on your review being one star and what you were trying to point out I can see you are not fond of the mandates and the job loss they caused. Whatever your stance on the mandates are I do not believe leaving 1 star reviews on small businesses with inaccurate information is the way to go about showing your viewpoint. We are an awesome team of people and our business was fortunate to survive the economic turmoil of the lockdowns and we are blessed for that. Now the mandates have been dropped we are welcoming everyone to come and see our facilities. Fantastic experience: Great place to work out. Enough equipment for everyone to use. Personal Trainers are always happy to give advice. 24 hours so I can work out when I want.
Positive experience: Pretty good gym, very nice showers and facilities. The staff here are helpful and friendly, equipment is good. The gym is a decent size with spaces set a decent distance apart for a good working area. They offer good priced smoothies and protein shakes which they can make for you - they’re very good. The hero of Te Rapa Flex in particular is a large back room with some cardio equipment and two squat racks which is perfect for free weight work outs. There is an AUX in so you can play whatever music you like and it’s quite private back there. Not my favourite gym but a definite second! Definitely recommend.

Positive experience: quality gym, great location, good equipment good range my only problems is the lack a space in the free weight area and how the main big window has no sun shade; when your on the treadmill the sun blinds your eyes which makes it very hard to do cardio

Positive experience: Been with this gym for 3 years. Very clean gym. Not a huge fan of Skilled athletics taking over apart of the space, now it feels smaller and more restricted to stretching space. And dislike the fact that there are no more free classes like before, now I travel to chartwel for free sessions. Team are friendly and good otherwise

Negative experience: So after signing up on Wednesday I met with Personal Trainer on Thursday. Didn't get personalised program as promised and when I spoke to management was verbally attacked and told to leave. Horrible way to treat customers. I came away in tears.

Fantastic experience: Just joined Flex a couple of weeks ago. Coming from a smaller town gym I was looking for good vibes and friendly members which I think makes a good gym. I wasn't disappointed and everyone is so inviting. The gear is next level and very new with a very motivating look in the gym itself. Bless that air conditioning in the summer too!! Staff are very helpful with an addition of great personal trainers. Would recommend for anyone looking for a 24 hour gym
