Negative experience: Ridiculous gym prices. $800 per year. $1000 if you cant afford $800 up front and choose to pay per f/n. The staff are rude and the facilities aren't even clean.

Fantastic experience: doing the big swim. very clean and not crowded

Positive experience: Great pools, but they need to up the temp in the children’s pools as they are freezing and kids end up with blue lips within 20-30mins

Negative experience: Unfriendly receptionist. She doesn't smile or greet anyone.

Negative experience: Visited the pools for a spa , found school groups in main pool area , also found adult taking videos of the children when told about the no camera and video sign he replied I’m with the school I can in an abrupt manner my question is 1 what is he going to use that content for and 2 why is the centre allowing the invasion of other’s privacy while there is a school group in the pool obviously a lot of people either can’t read or interpret what the signage means when entering the premises not a good experience .

Negative experience: Pros: reasonable facilities, handy location. Cons: booking lessons is very painful We’ve tried and failed numerous times to book lessons here. Firstly they don’t publish a schedule instead you have to email them to enquire. Secondly the schedule they send through seems to rapidly change. One of our kids had their lessons cancelled as they claim there was someone with the same first name + uncommon surname combination that had signed up for the same lesson and then cancelled and they cancelled our kid instead and weren’t going to let her attend until we complained further. Another kid we signed up to lessons within two days of them emailing us the schedule only to be told after they charged us that they were going to change one of our kids from the time and level we signed him up for to a different time and level. I’m genuinely amazed they manage to keep anyone for lessons considering how painful it is to coordinate with them and especially considering how fast and effective the other local swim school (Jill’s swim school) is at organising lessons and arranging times. The only plus I can say is the pool itself is decent and the kids enjoy going there with a handy location by park. Other than that would definitely not recommend them for lessons.

Positive experience: Really good facilities, but I was disappointed in the lack of staff attention to the spa area, why put up signs saying only over 16s wearing blue wristbands can use the spa pool if the staff are going to walk past and not do anything when children and people without blue wristbands are in the spa pool. They should just make it all-access if they don’t care.

Fantastic experience: Always love visiting the pools, sauna & spa when in town. Went the last couple of days. It is still the same fantastic customer service. Facilities are clean and tidy. Really enjoyed the sauna and spa on these cooler ngahuru days. Place is well worth visiting when in town.

Fantastic experience: Excellent swimming pools. Radio communication between attendants. All of the facilities are awesome. Hydro slide, lazy river, diving board, large water slide. All fun. Safety is a priority for families of young children. Many thanks to the staff who allowed the outside slide to be opened for my son in the half hour before closing time. Will definitely be going back.

Positive experience: Nice clean pool but awful changing rooms! No privacy! Definitely go with your Swimwear on already! Inside was crazy busy but luckily outside was calmer and had shaded tree spots to pop stuff under and get out of the sun.

Fantastic experience: I took my chrildren in the pools. It was cheap $1 each. My two always have fun. All they need is a small cafe to make it better for people who go to supervise

Negative experience: Paid for a sauna and a hot spa. Both facilities were barely luke warm. They were very happy to take our money though. This isn't the first time this has happened to us. The spa is aging and often dirty due to poor maintenance and is fast nearing its used by date. But I guess that's what happens when you contract out a community facility to a business who's main focus is to make money.

Positive experience: Lovely, clean indoor and outdoor pools. Warm spa with powerful jets for adults. Indoor and outdoor slides. Diving pool. Lanes reserved for serious swimmers. Place for playing, lazy river and shallower pools for children. Life guards. Special prices during the holidays. A great place to go for exercise, family fun and a good time.

Positive experience: Trust House Recreation Centre in Masterton is a great location which includes an aquatic centre, gym and other facilities. Lots of fun for all the family. The aquatic centre has both indoor and outdoor areas and features pools, hydroslides and a lazy river. All the facilities are clean, tidy and well maintained. A great place to go to spend time having fun with all the family.

Fantastic experience: Loved the pool. The rapids were so much fun for the kids and us parents as well. Indoor hydro slide for extra fun. Our daughter very much enjoyed the inflatable ladder walk. Extra points for bilingual signage in Te Reo and English. Ka pai!

Negative experience: For the price we pay to use the pool one would expect that the pool staff would actually keep some sort of standard. Kids absolutely run a muck and staff turn a blind eye to it and let them spoil everyone else's fun. Bombing in the main pool where people are trying to swim and get exercise. Faul language is yelled across the room, totally inappropriate for young children and families to hear. The management need to step up and do something instead of just sitting at the till taking our money!

Fantastic experience: What a great event. Apart from the shearing the wool handling was a really great event to watch. It was the initial reason I visited Masterton from Sydney and also to visit my son and family. I got a picture of myself with the Australian Team which was a great treat. I was also able to go out the back and see what was happening to get the sheep in. Australia to win next year?

Negative experience: would suggest council pay more attention on the operator so as to improve all areas. the cleanliness is pretty poor and the staff are often talking to each other on pool side and not spread out watching and managing the swimmers. many parents do not watch their kids so dont be surprised when a serious accident or fatality happens here.

Positive experience: Great facilities. Went swimming with friends boys. Both boys have hearing impairment. So needed alittle more care the then most. Staff were every forgiving and understanding. The boys were give opportunities to go unnoticed. Great service from the entrance to the pool side?

Negative experience: BEWARE! Definitely don't recommend this place. Apparently thieves have been operating there for a while and security cameras don't work. Went to the pool with my family today for the first time and, as there were no lockers available, we had to leave our bag in the cubicles provided. We felt comfortable as there was a big warning about security cameras. However, our bag was taken, $120 was stolen from our wallet and the bag left in the Male changing rooms. Staff didn't offer any kind of support and said the cameras were not in working order. When reporting the incident to the police, the officer told us that this was the 4th similar case she registered in the last 3 days at the Masterton pools. The Police told us that the security cameras have been down for ages. So, if you plan to have a great time in Masteton, think twice about going to (UN)Trust House Recreation Centre.
