Fantastic experience: Lovely clean gym with tons of high quality equipment. Real state of the art place. Has busy and quiet times like every other gym. I guess busy times might be busier than some gyms because there'll be more members than other gyms. Membership prices are the best of any(?) gym in Nelson. I think... Most of the staff are super friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: The gym is fine - the reason for the low rating is how completely ruthless they are with money grabbing - to put your account on hold the minimum period is 4 weeks and you have to pay them $32 for the privilege which is rediculious.

Fantastic experience: This is a great gym, Plenty to offer in the way of classes and equipment. Friendly staff and personal trainers,and a positive atmosphere. Clean showers and bathrooms.

Negative experience: I have been going to Hot Yoga classes for years in many different places and countries, but never have I experienced what I experience in the classes in this building. Older women are regularly talking out loud with each other in the studio, when this is against all yoga etiquette. There's even a sign on the wall asking people to be quiet or to whisper. It's so rude to have to listen to what "Barbara" did at the weekend right next to you. I cancelled my membership because of exactly this, and I doubt it will change tbh. This a yoga class, not a coffee session for the retirees.... seriously

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, day pass was $20, lots of equipment for weight lifting and cardio, rooms for classes etc too, very big and nice gym. Staffed hours was from 8am and it wasn't busy at that time which was nice.

Negative experience: Well equipped but really let down by it's rude and untidy members and there are too many of them. Other members hog machines while looking at their phones for a lot longer than required for resting, or talking to their mates. Weights are left all over the place. People leave their bags in the gym instead of the locker room. Heavy weights left on equipment that I can't even lift off. Rarely does other members have a towel or clean off the equipment after use. You need to reduce the number of members you have City Fitness, it is impacting on all members, and the ones you have need house training.

Negative experience: Staff on phone didnt sound very enthusiastic and sound like it's inconvenient calling up. Kind of wish I'd joined somewhere a bit friendlier this time.

Negative experience: If you're travelling to Nelson from overseas and looking for a workout, you're not welcome at this gym. Like something out of the 90s, they only accept sign ups from people with an NZ bank account (lol). Regardless of offering to pay sign up fees and all four weeks that I required in advance, I was unable to sign up here. I felt for the poor staff member who was unable to defend such a stupid business decision while trying to recommend a better local alternative.

Negative experience: Had my heart set on joining this gym, went in and saw a lovely assistant who promised me a free trial class before I joined. Bearing in mind most gyms with give you a free trial of some sort before you join! Called up the following week to book in for my free trial class, and almost had an argument with the woman on the phone as to whether I could do a free trial or not!!! She wanted me to pay for it!! I have no idea what the classes are like! I may or may not have liked them!

Fantastic experience: Coming here while holidaying in Nelson, and the place is great. Plenty of parking and spacious changing facilities. Machines are good too.

Fantastic experience: Never been here but just thought I'd top up their good reviews because some of the bad reviews are ridiculous quite honestly, and one guy who says it's a very good place and gives it 3 stars! Heard good things from people I know.

Negative experience: “Open 24/7” this is untrue. If u were you would allow all ages in not just 16 and over. I am 15 and this is very frustrating for me as I have a busy schedule and when I can find time to go u guys are closed! It’s a waste of my time and my mums. Please update this, maybe to even getting parent consent for going “after hours”. It’s not like the trainers there do anything when I’m there anyways l.

Up to date, well maintained equipment. The Best part, the people, from the dedicated fitness nut, body builders, physically disadvantaged and the general public, it's a great place to achieve your goals or just be healthy in a healthy environment

Positive experience: My first serious gym membership was here and I am in love with the setup. The amount of equipment is perfect and I am never waiting around longer than a few minutes for use on anything during the busy hours! Staff are not super friendly towards some but a great gym!
