Negative experience: I feel disappointed to be writing this, but I feel I have no other option to gain traction. I cancelled my membership on 1 September 2025, in person, followed up via email, and also completed the required termination form. Despite doing everything correctly, my membership was never cancelled. I only discovered this weeks later when I noticed payments were still being taken from my account. My husband then went in to speak to the staff in person again, and only after this was my membership officially terminated. We have now been waiting months for a refund. While they have responded to our emails, the length of time this has taken has been extremely frustrating. We have repeatedly been told that it is “out of their hands” and with head office. This situation should have been resolved much sooner, especially given the clear cancellation and ongoing follow-ups. I am happy to update this review if the refund is processed.

Your membership cancellation should have been handled correctly at the time of your initial request, and we acknowledge that this did not occur as it should have. We also recognise that the delay in resolving the refund has been unacceptable.
While some administrative processes require head office involvement, this should not have resulted in such a prolonged resolution. We take this matter seriously and have escalated it to ensure it is finalised as a priority.

Thanks for the feedback — we get what you mean. Some of our long-standing staff definitely built great relationships with members.
Just to clarify, our staffed hours are:
• Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 7:00pm
• Friday & Saturday: 8:00am – 1:00pm
From time to time, staff may need to step away briefly due to meetings or personal reasons. When that happens, we always advise when they’ll be back on site so members know the best time to come in and chat.
If there’s a specific team member you’re looking for, feel free to ask at reception or leave a message — we’re always happy to help where we can. Appreciate you being part of the club

Negative experience: I give this gym 1 month and it will.be closed and the owner has only got herself to blame. 6 years as a member and she has invested ZERO.City Fitness has arrived and no joke 90 percent of members have left for the same reason this gym is outdated and sorry to say I'm glad everyone has left. This is why the other gym closed in Christchurch she had. We pay our membership for the owner to invest and keep us motivated. The equipment is old and never serviced and falling apart.

Negative experience: Cheaper than Snap or Flex but the equipment isn't as good and the whole place feels tired. Doesn't have good temperature control so it's rare it's not too cold or too hot. Staff don't seem to care about you unless you're one of their mates. Leaving was easy so a small thumbs up for that!

Negative experience: Cheap, but poorly maintained. Lacks heating in winter and air conditioning in summer. Equipment stays broken for weeks on end and younger members let in groups of friends to hang out.

Fantastic experience: Place has all the equipment needed to improve yourself. The staff makes the place welcoming and very friendly, always found him very approachable and knowledgeable. The other people there are always ready to push you to the next level. The people there make it great.

Positive experience: Low-key overpriced for the facilities - very small, yet $33 a fortnight compared to $14 a fortnight for CityFitness. Not terrible, has all the basics and generally clean hence 3 stars but you can do a lot better for your buck.

Fantastic experience: Gym worker almost gets two plates I’m proud
Negative experience: needs air conditioning ASAP
Positive experience: The gym is great but there is almost no way of contacting management at the gym. The air conditioners are not on in the heat of summer, with temperatuers of 28 to 30 degrees C in the gym. The doors were left open earlier this week just to get some air movement in the gym. It is not ideal conditions for a gym.
Negative experience: Left this gym recently after being a member since it opened. The gym has issues with hygiene both within the gym and bathrooms (sometimes no soap or paper towel), equipment maintenanance, and lack of staff. The breaking point for me was one of the young male PTs displaying consistent poor gym etiquette (dropping weights aggressively, being rough with equipment, not wiping equipment, and ego lifting)

Negative experience: Just another number. Never any staff in sight. Even though cancellation was done in writing, still had to pay 8 wks Wouldn't recommend to anyone
Positive experience: Basic gym. Equipment is getting a tad old and not always well maintained. However you can still get a good workout in. Staff experience is non existent, again not a major, but something that should be worked on. As someone fairly astute, there's a lot of areas that could easily pump this gym up to be alot better. But as mentioned, it still does a job.

Negative experience: I went to request information, the girl who attended me was so unfriendly, she spoke to me in front of the exit door and very quickly. Null customer service. I went to two another gyms before that one and the customer service was totally different and excellent. If you want to bring in new customers, it is something they have to improve.
