Our comment from Gimnasios Fitness about Cameron Pool and Leisure Centre:
Cameron Pool and Leisure Centre in Auckland is a vibrant hub for fitness enthusiasts and families alike. Known for its friendly atmosphere, the centre offers a clean and warm swimming pool, making it a beautiful place to work out and unwind.
Highlights of Cameron Pool and Leisure Centre include:
- Well-Maintained Facilities: Users appreciate the newly refurbished gym with a good selection of cardio machines and weight equipment, ideal for both casual visitors and dedicated fitness enthusiasts.
- Diverse Offerings: The centre features two swimming pools, including one for adults and one for children, along with spa, steam, and sauna facilities.
- Community-Focused: Many users point out the friendly staff and community vibe, making it an accessible and welcoming space for everyone.
- Great Classes: The fitness classes receive positive feedback, particularly the Aquarobics class, which is popular among members.
- Adequate Parking: Although parking can be a challenge during peak times, most visitors find the parking adequate for casual visits.
Despite these strengths, there are some concerns that have been raised:
- Hygiene Issues: Several users reported that cleanliness in certain areas, especially the changing rooms, and the pool could improve.
- Overcrowding: Some reviews mention that the pool can get overly crowded, especially during weekdays, which may detract from the overall experience.
- Inconsistent Equipment Maintenance: A few users noted that some gym equipment was not consistently in good condition, and the responsiveness to maintenance issues could be improved.
Overall, Cameron Pool and Leisure Centre remains a favored destination for many, combining a variety of fitness opportunities with a strong sense of community, making it an excellent choice for those looking to enhance their well-being.

Cameron Pool and Leisure Centre: Opinions
Positive experience: I’m just curious why is so hard for some people to put the weights back properly? More muscles shouldn’t mean less consideration for others!
Fantastic experience: We joined the membership of this facility just last November. We noticed that every employee in this facility is doing their best to help improve the conditions of the facilities. Taking the front desk as a starting point, the staff behind the desk is always friendly and helpful. The swimming pool area is always kept clean. I want to highlight that there is no designated janitor for the overall cleaning of the center. The lifeguards’ duties are not only to keep an eye on the people in the pool, but also to clean the pool, the common areas around the pool and even the toilets and showers in the changing rooms. I would like to honor all of the lifeguards and especially two ladies, Izzy and Jessie, who I have seen working hard to keep the changing rooms and the pool clean. We consider ourselves fortunate that as we joined the gym, all of the equipments were new and were in place after the change over to CLM. We like the fitness programs that the gym instructors have created for us based on our needs. Special thanks to Chika and Kai for designing and updating our workout programs. Kai is not only always roaming around the two gyms to provide support but also been mopping and vacuuming the gyms! Kudos to Kai! Unfortunately, in numerous occasions we noticed that some inconsiderate users have left the changing rooms in very messy conditions, eg. leaving the sinks messy after use, leaving rubbish on the floor in the shower cubicles and the toilets. However, we appreciate that the staff have been doing their very best to keep the facility clean.
Negative experience: 早关,晚开
Fantastic experience: The day I went, it was mostly adults. They have a "Nan", pool area. Which amused me nicely.
Negative experience: I am writing to provide feedback on my visit today. Extremely disappointed with our first visit. We paid for entry and supervision for our 6 and 10-year-olds, only to have the nan's pool closed just 2 minutes after we entered. My daughter cannot swim, making the main pool unsafe for her. I want to start by commending the lifeguard on duty in the learner pool. He was professional and very apologetic when explaining the 4 PM closure. His behavior was exactly what you would expect from a community center. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the man at the helpdesk. Praful was the name of the help desk assistant if i remember. He was aggressive and rude to the customer before me, and then to my family. As first-time visitors, we were not informed of the differing pool hours. When I asked for clarification on facility timings (including the gym), he told me it was "none of my business" and was dismissive about a refund. It is a shame that one staff member's poor attitude and lack of communication ruined a visit that was otherwise handled well by your lifeguards. This level of service is unacceptable for a community center. I expect a follow-up on how this staff member’s conduct will be addressed.
Fantastic experience: If you are reading these reviews to decide if it’s good or not. It’s absolutely good! But I will use this review to also remind if you are planning to join; remember the family changing rooms are for quick change or quick shower as there is only 1. I almost always have to wait for the some members who tend to think this is their home shower or changing room. 4/10 visits someone mostly new members spend over 20mins and they come out with shampoos lol! Please don’t be these people! Otherwise highly recommend this place to you.
Fantastic experience: Cameron Pools and Leisure Centre is a well-run, community-focused facility that places clear emphasis on wellbeing, inclusion, and accessibility. It serves a diverse community, welcoming people of all cultures, body types, and ages, from young children through to older adults, in a way that feels respectful and genuinely inclusive. The centre functions as more than just a gym and pool complex. It operates as a true community space, offering opportunities for people to work out, swim, rehabilitate, or simply spend time in a supportive environment that meets a wide range of needs. Facilities are strong across both the gym and aquatic areas. The gym is well equipped and suitable for different fitness levels, while the pool services are thoughtfully organised. Clearly assigned swim lanes help manage different abilities and activities, reducing congestion and improving safety and comfort for all users. The pools are complemented by a spa and sauna, providing additional options for recovery and relaxation, along with an indoor shower that adds to the overall convenience of the facility. A well-designed ramp ensures the pools are accessible for people with mobility challenges, supporting independence and dignity in use. The changing facilities are a shared common space, so visitors should be aware of this when planning their visit. Staff are consistently friendly and approachable, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere and helping the centre feel safe and supportive. Overall, Cameron Pools and Leisure Centre stands out as a place that actively looks after its community, providing quality facilities in an environment that prioritises respect, accessibility, and wellbeing for everyone.
Fantastic experience: One of the best CLM gyms in Auckland. It is quite far away from me, I really just want to use the sauna ☺️
Fantastic experience: Best hot pool around.
Fantastic experience: My son is enrolled at Cameroon Pool and Leisure Venture, and he really enjoys the classes. They are well-organized, neat, and clean, with excellent instructors. The changing rooms are maintained well and kept clean. The place feels like a cultural hub, warmly welcoming everyone. While the kids are in training, parents also have options to warm up and stay active, making it a space that promotes overall health. Thank you all.
Negative experience: This facility advertises 7 lanes, but during weekdays, public can only swim in one lane until 7:30 PM. The online lane availability often shows 4–5 lanes open, but in reality, you’ll end up sharing a single lane with 5–9 people, making it almost impossible to have a proper swim. The steam room and sauna are also consistently underheated. Many people try to raise the temperature with silly tactics, but instead of listening to customer feedback, management dismisses concerns and never makes improvements.
Negative experience: Went there for a swimming event. The water was really cloudy and there was an excessive smell of cheap deodorant in the water and the air above - caused an asthma attack. The tiles in the pool were slippery - it was like being the last in the bath after the whole family had bathed, and was really gross. It would take a lot to drag me back there...
Negative experience: YMCA was better and new company is not that good
Fantastic experience: My three kids are enrolled at Cameron Pool and Leisure Centre, and they absolutely love their lessons! The environment is welcoming, friendly, and well-organised. The best part of our experience has been meeting Josie, she is such a wonderful person with a beautiful smile and a warm, friendly soul. You rarely meet someone like her! She’s incredibly professional, cooperative, and competent, and she made the enrolment process so easy and pleasant. She truly makes you feel welcome and supported. All the staff members are kind and helpful, and the overall atmosphere is fantastic. Thank you to everyone , and a special thanks to Josie, you are awesome!
Positive experience: Great location. Clean Plenty of parking spots
Fantastic experience: Maravillosa experiencia con ganas de volver
Fantastic experience: Price-worthy. Helpful staff, more than enough gym and spa facilities. Simply good vibes. Love this place
Negative experience: You get what you pay for in this place sauna never gets set to a decent temperature can sit in there for an hour before you break a sweet the entrance door to sauna has a gap of so big you can almost slide under bit strange for a room that needs to heat up an the spa pool is always cold was told went under new management last few months ago but looks like nothing has changed
Negative experience: Worst reception experience. I called the reception and she just directly said to recall for the gym without knowing my query. She hung up without nicely talk. I did not want to ask her about the gym.
Fantastic experience: The coffee shop inside makes the best coffee
Fantastic experience: The coffee shop inside makes the best coffee
Fantastic experience: Overall pretty good when compared to other Pool and Leisure centres.
Negative experience: Too expensive
Negative experience: The cardio room is always hot and the air is not flowed. When I opened the window one of the fitness instructors told me that I’m not allowed to open the window. Maybe he should call out those people who didn’t wipe the machine.
Negative experience: How pathetic to not open Nans pool to the community anymore. It was only for two hours on sat/sun but was always busy during these times showing demand for this facility. Way to encourage our young people getting in the water. The lane pool is way too deep for a lot of children.
Thank you for your feedback regarding the limited availability of Nans Pool. We understand the importance of providing accessible swimming options for young people and children.
We appreciate you highlighting the demand during weekend hours and we will take this into consideration as we plan future operating hours with Auckland Council. In the meantime, we encourage you to share any additional suggestions with us directly so we can continue working towards a solution that benefits all members of our community.
Fantastic experience: Great facility with helpful staff and very friendly cafe attendants.
Positive experience: Only one lane up until 7pm.
Fantastic experience: Best leisure center
Fantastic experience: Great place to swim, everybody is friendly.
Fantastic experience: Experience: lovely respectful no matter religion color tangata kupu..language ethnicity ...Cameron has a lot historic history and knowing members community staff in Cameron Pool&Leisure are very helpful respectful
Fantastic experience: I live 300 metres away and thinking of getting a job there as i m a lifeguard and been one for over ten years, jennifer the receptionnist was the one that greated me wirh a smile and after discussing with here found out she was from the cook islands and me telling i was from tahiti just made it obvious that with the smile and blood related ,that was at first sight ,the best feeling and impression that you can welcome someone with a big as i entered the pools, met daniel one of pool lufeguard which i was introduced by jennifer again and finally ask me if i wanted go go thru and invited me in,how nice from her, walked in met another lifeguard which i cant remenber his name, got introduced and jennifer had to go back to her duties,so very small standard 25l pool,i think it has 7 lanes not to sure or 8 think 7 ,depht is 1.2 metres in depth and all over thats amazing,i was telling the lifeguard, ghees kids cant even drown,we laughed,i should not have, but yeah everything is rite there, the pool itself,u have if course the changing for him and her, lockers for customers to stay safe on their side to be able to lock up their staff once they get on poolside,a ramp to get to the spa, sauna and steamer and u can go aas far with ur wheel chair but have reverse and use tje same ramp to get on the main pooldeck, its nice, busy on sundays defenetely, but quiet on monday when i walked in, therens a luttle cafe next to the reception u have gym that u could join and a learners pool,o yes,and that rite next door to the gymnastics place in one of my surveys not to big ,not to small, the place to be with ur kids and koro, and also kaumatua's can join u also, matahiapo, yeah i suggest if u want to learn how to swim they will be able too, tamariky, also can be part of ur day out to the poools, warmer these days inside than outside,so yep a good day at the pools if you ate living Mt Roskill and surroundings,i ment all around auckland i should say,Cameron pools will the best and the attraction ot the dat, kiora.
Negative experience: Experience
Negative experience: Please reopen the Nan’s pool for public use. This is a public swimming pool, however the kids pool (Nan’s pool) is closed to the public at all times except 2 hours on the weekend. I had a very disappointed toddler when I took him today. Nothing about the closure or timings that it’s opened on the website - they advertise the adults and kids pool available. I went to have a look and there were two kids having two private lessons. Doesn’t make sense that they’d close it the full day all weekdays, even through school holidays when there’s no classes. I used to come here as a child to the pools and loved it because it’s where I learnt to swim. I hope they open the childrens pools again and the communication is improved.
Fantastic experience: Awesome
Negative experience: When you go busy time or a normal daytime, there are so many young students hired lanes to swim and there is only one lane for people swimming normally. That's not enough at all.
Negative experience: Horrible respond and system. I paid ahead for my daughter class on their website. I was charged double. When I ring around and ask. No one can answer me. Finally I got an email address and send. Waited 3 days to get response and saying no payment done to their account. Even I was proving all payment proof, no response from them. Please don't trust them. I learn it by losing my money.
Fantastic experience: Well run ....affable staff ...recommend.
Negative experience: I had a disappointing experience with YCameron. When I signed up, I was never informed that canceling my membership would result in an extra month being added to my contract. My contract was set to end on December 25, but when I requested cancellation, I was told I had to pay for an additional month—something that was never clearly communicated upfront. This feels like a sneaky way to charge members extra. I was transferred for work and hadn’t been using the facility for a while, yet they refused to waive the extra charge. Good customer service means being fair and transparent, but unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I won’t be returning when I’m back in Auckland, and I’ll be advising my friends to be cautious before signing up. If you’re considering joining, make sure to read the fine print carefully—there’s always a catch.
Fantastic experience: Great staff, Super Friendly
Negative experience: Dirty showers with no doors or privacy in male section
Fantastic experience: Lovely place for different exercises for the body, spa sauna pools
Fantastic experience: I am a retiree, joined membership two month ago for swimming. I thank Cameron pool centre and it's staff for helping me on date 16 October 2024. I felt dizzy and unwell after swimming because of my own health reason. There were staff immediately offered assistance on site, called ambulance and accompany me till I was taking away to the hospital. Afterwards, Mark from the center phoned me showing the care when I was still in the hospital. I find Cameron pool team very helpful and caring. Strongly recommend for everyone.
Negative experience: Great staff members, Charlotte was amazing at signing me up. However, the hygiene side of the things are neglected at this facility (cloudy pool water with plasters floating about, showers are gross). I am sure they will work on it but for now I have decided to cancel my membership and go elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: This is a beautiful place to workout. The swimming pool is clean and warm. Everybody is willing to help you.
Fantastic experience: One of my favorite places in NZ.
Positive experience: The gym facility is not bad. Wide range of weights machines, even Olympic lifting and fitness classes. Decent amount of cardio machines. One of the few things I don't like is people who use the gym facility, hardly bring sweat towels and worse people don't even wipe down the equipments. Also parking is a mega nightmare if you hit the gym after work on weekdays. Weekends can be also be frustrating when they have cricket and soccer season. The parking is also shared with the gymnasium next to the gym/pools.
Fantastic experience: Always great fun and fair prices.
Negative experience: I had reported and requested to replace a fused light bulb in the spa and see that after almost six months it is yet not replaced. Secondly they had open up the membership to too many people and at times it gets very crowded.
Negative experience: Everytime I go to this gym. Some trainer has a group of 20+ teens who get in the way while playing obnoxious super loud music. This gym has two rooms upstairs which only only the trainers use, yet they use the room where the gym members use. Makes no sense
Positive experience: small pool facility but adequate for the competition. food outlet reasonable staff friendly
Negative experience: Very dirty, been there several times and nothing has changed
Fantastic experience: The workers are very friendly. Excellent place to train. They opened a new gym with good cardio machines and racks. You can use the Spa, Steam and Sauna. There are two swimming pools, one for adults and one for children. Cameron Pool and Leisure is in the middle of a beautiful park with green areas, children's play and parking.
Positive experience: I joined this gym and pool complex for 30% off, just over $11 a week (limited time offer) until the end of the year. 2 out of 3 stationary bikes are faulty. And some very new equipment that is very different from anything I’ve tried before
Positive experience: Until now my experience has been so good, I did Sona & Swimming both well maintained. However, in the men's changing room sometimes some visitors do not understand the value of tidiness.
Negative experience: Used to be my go place but now they have doors in the showers which is frustrating! U don't know who is waiting can take a long shower time unless u happy and want to knock and not get bullied back
Fantastic experience: The best place to refresh the mind and build health body is very well equipped and excellent
Positive experience: the price for adult is actually $7, not $6.50 as shown in the website, please update it online
Negative experience: The pool is too cold, not suitable for children
Fantastic experience: The Aquarobics class is great, but a bit crowded at times..The Cafe has tasty food, the staff is very friendly....
Negative experience: I really dont want to be this person but for context I have been in commercial aquatics for the better part of 15 years and I have been a member here on and off for several years. The quality of the facility has gone downhill rapidly the last 6 months. The pool water quality is consistently poor and cloudy and full of hair, plasters etc. The new refurbished side of the gym that opened 5 weeks ago has been partially closed since it opened (excluding maybe 3 days?) with no explanation whatsoever, and some days fully closed. When it is open and you’re training by yourself (especially as a female) you’re made to feel uncomfortable by other members who think it’s okay to train in jeans and no shirt. Or just sit behind you on the floor and pretend to train but just watch you intensely. Car parking on the weekend is a joke. So when you do find a park and then come in to see the area you wanted to use closed - again with no explanation- it is incredibly frustrating and makes you want to walk straight out. The lifeguards sit on poolside and chat and play on their phones (something you would have been fired for on the spot when I was lifeguarding and barely watching the pool) when the pool concourse, floors and changing rooms could do with a clean. It’s so disappointing, this place picked it up for a little bit but it has absolutely gone downhill and I can’t wait for my membership to expire.
Negative experience: One of the worst gyms in Auckland
Negative experience: Regularly late to open, areas often closed, repairs very slow, equipment goes missing.
Fantastic experience: Good and reasonable place to go for fun and gym
Fantastic experience: School holidays and something for everyone during the day - unfortunately during the day, no lanes available. Kids are back at school now, so life is back to normal :-)
Negative experience: I went in the gym and there was no trainer and also the equipments are old and dirty and the staff except some are non cooperative, rude and not helpful at all. I would never go back at that place ever again worst gym ever
Positive experience: Awesome facilities available,…. Weights, machines, spa, steam and a couple of pools…. Iconic location that’s been there for yonks!
Negative experience: Spa Sauna steam very often off/on ??? Sauna floors very slippery & dirty ,under the bench like trash bin ? People using Sauna/steam room as gym for excersice & body scrubs . Good Aqua instructors disappear in couple of weeks? What’s the problem ?
Fantastic experience: Many thanks to the kids swim teacher Leeanne for taking on both my autistic kids for swimming lessons during term 1. Thanks for your paitence, skills, for being firm when needed and adding in some fun as a reward/brain break. Appreciate it! You are amazing, they were lucky to have lessons in the warm nan pool. Will definitely enrol them in term 3 if were lucky enough to get Leeanne again . Inclusive, fast response from admin to sign up which made things less stressful, compared to Mt.Albert swim school so will definitely be back. Thank you all.
Fantastic experience: all my life i had thought Cameron pools was a towing company, and only recently have i had the good fortune to visit this establishment, and discover for myself its true purpose. this is not a towing company by the name of Cameron Pulls, but instead a very respectable swimming pool. A most welcome surprise.
Negative experience: Good place for a swim and in my case water walking, disappointing on the water walking side of things as the specified lane for walking has kids playing, jumping, bombing and throwing balls all while the life savers watch and play with them. The pool rules clearly say no jumping. A bit of a joke if the rules aren't followed. People and couples also cuddling, stretching and talking in the lanes.
Fantastic experience: Great little spot with gym, pools, spa, steam and sauna. They have a great selection of fitness classes too. The membership fees are around $20/week and you get access to all of that, if you live convenient - it's worth it.
Negative experience: Swim school manager is non-cooperative. In the name of makeup sessions, they will send you the copy of rules which encourages taking sick kids to the pool and infect other kids. The rule of getting a medical certificate for more than one session doesn't make sense to me after COVID settings where it's so difficult to see a doctor when kids are actually sick. Again, the rule is not a law passed and can be modified if the manager has the intention of helping community. I would suggest go for other Council school where the manager has the intention of helping. Swim teachers are good and the review remarks and not for teachers.
Negative experience: Concerned about hygiene in the gym.
Negative experience: So so
Positive experience: Good community asset. Reasonably priced too.
Negative experience: Dirty and small swimming pool. the sauna and steam is good though!
Fantastic experience: Best place for Gym and swimming together ❤️ with affordable price You can also get Sona and spa including in regular gym membership price
Positive experience: Pretty decent place. Steam room and sauna gets nice and hot. Hot bubble bath is real nice.Place has always been clean whenever I went there, bathrooms included.
Positive experience: Good Local Facilities Sauna is on point but due to 'Red light' restrictions is unfortunately Limited to 4 at a time so please be prepared to wait and share with your fellow Humans or Alien Hybrids Spa has a limit of 10 so it's party time in the Hot Tub Time Machine...
Fantastic experience: I loved taking all my family to Cameron Naan pool because water it's quite warm and not that much deep . No Entry fees for children but just have to pay for adult supervision and its quite affordable i would recommend it to others because your going enjoyed it especially if your in stage of learning to swim this will be the best place to practice while younger kids can enjoy and have fun swimming in the pool.
Fantastic experience: Great little pool. Check for swim school times. But nice temperature and clean water
Fantastic experience: Great trainers and cooperation management
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff Rekaxing atmosphere. What else do you need.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic swim school here, highly recommend them, amazing teachers who are genuine with all the kids, and very friendly place all round
Fantastic experience: Great place
Fantastic experience: Staff are friendly and helpful
Fantastic experience: Awesome pool and leisure centre for all age people, awesome teachers, they work really hard for teaching swimming.
Fantastic experience: Great gym & pool complex - good staff, fantastic to be back after covid lockdown - very simple process to get in and not crowded - Yay! Excellent covid policy - very easy
Fantastic experience: Loved it. Not overcrowded midday and great temperature. Very clean.
Positive experience: The facility itself and the staff are good. Poor lane discipline in the pool, expect to have kids playing in your swimming lane. Lots of people in the gym sit on the equipment, play on their phones and don't seem to be doing any exercise. Maybe pay the staff more?
Fantastic experience: Nice place. Well maintained by YMCA which is I guess owned by Auckland council. Affordable entry or membership fees. They have fully furnished gym, pool, sauna, steam room and group exercise classes as well. They also provide swimming lessons for kids and adults.
Fantastic experience: Cameron pools has a great facility for both leisurely swimming and for those who want to train. Lanes are marked either for fast, medium, or play. The pools are really clean and we'll maintained, the same can be said about the sauna and changing rooms. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. There is also a dedicated gym section, a small store to purchase flippers, goggles and swim caps along with other items. At the main entrance there is a cafe but this was closed when I visited. Overall a really great swimming pool.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful pool, well organized gym and weight room, good spa sauna and steam room, friendly and helpful staff, excellent trainers. Motivating classes. Affordable prices. I recommend it most enthusiastically
Fantastic experience: Beautiful fun.
Positive experience: Great venue
Fantastic experience: Late
Positive experience: Does the job
Positive experience: Great pool but in need of a refresh and renovation.
Positive experience: People sitting in sona steem straight jump in the pool and spar that's not good for highgine
