Fantastic experience: My family has been involved with Taumarunui Kyokushin for a few years now, as well as other combat sports. I can't recommend this dojo enough. Kyokushin karate is not only an effective fighting style, it is a lifestyle. Sensei Vincent uses an intent to promote form that needs to be filled out and signed by parents and teachers before you can progress through the ranks, and it works wonders as an incentive to behave. I have not seen this kind of strategy used in any other gym or dojo here. The change I have seen in my brother's behaviour especially is phenomenal. Sensei Vincent is a pillar of our community and we are lucky to have him.

Fantastic experience: As a 60+ I am grateful to Sensei Vince for allowing me to be involved with my youngest daughter of 5 in a full contact martial art style like kyukoshin karate. Having previously started in 1990s in taumarunui under Sensei Tracy wooley and moving away and relocating back after 20 years, has by chance brought me back to karate. It is a very committed way of life and I highly recommend it to those who want to improve their self confidence and self belief.

Fantastic experience: I first started at this dojo due to recommendation through my dad where he used to join in his younger days. This style of karate focuses on real life situations that happen in the day to day. it has really helped with my confidence in myself and to connect with others more.

Although nervous at her first tournament her class mates were tremendous support. Sensei is stern, thorough and supportive whilst also making time for fun.
