Fantastic experience: Pretty good ,it was visiting from blenheim, and I had one of the staff help me find my way around lots of newish machines

Negative experience: While we were training today at city fitness, Wigram in Christchurch, a personal trainer named Katie approached two males about them grunting whilst lifting weights and said “if you don’t shut up I’ll trespass you and call the police”, she was very hostile, rude, and aggressive. She proceeded to call the police after calling these men racist comments and 12-15 police officers showed up to arrest these men. Obviously they couldn’t be arrested as grunting in the gym is not illegal. However I believe this lady Katie is extremely racist, unprofessional and should not be working at a gym. These are paying members that have clearly been harassed.

Negative experience: I was observing a male exercise, and due to his sound effects the workers had rang the police causing a scene and making a public display that was not needed. This was quite upsetting, as I found this racist and discriminating. Not a friendly environment and I would never go back again.

Positive experience: The gym is busy and full of a wide range of equipment. Staff are friendly. However I had to detour to work to use the bathroom, as all four of the mens loos were out of toilet paper, and two of them were in a state I can only describe as a war crime... they need to roster on more cleaning/maintenance staff to keep up with the number of gym goers.

Positive experience: My regular gym due to location and I have been going more the last few weeks. Facilities are good, a lot of space to move. Busy at times but mainly during peak hours (between 5 and 7). Hygiene level are good, spray bottles and paper towels to wipe down equipment, but there is no hand sanitisers stations available at all inside the gym or even in the toilets. Frustrating when I want to clean my hands quickly after the end of a gym session on my way out. Thanks

Negative experience: Uncomfortable and unacceptable experience at CityFitness Christchurch. On June 21st, a male cleaner entered the women’s changing room while I was still getting dressed. There was no warning, no knocking, no announcement — he just walked in and started vacuuming. When I complained, the gym offered no real apology or solution. Women deserve better. We deserve safety, privacy, and respect.

Fantastic experience: Love to workout in there.

Fantastic experience: Probabaly the best City Fitty I've visited in the country. New, clean, respectful clientelle, plenty of space, new equipment.

Negative experience: Standard gym. Extremely busy most of the time. The building has poor cell signal inside and the WiFi is terrible even when the gym is mostly empty. Can't load a website let alone stream music. At any one time a quarter of the treadmills will be broken.

Fantastic experience: Very busy but good machines and lots of weights to use.

Positive experience: Okay range of machines and dumbbells. Only two deadlift platforms. It's way too busy so cancelled membership.

Positive experience: Great gym just not enough parking spaces at peak times

Negative experience: to many new rules can’t even wear slides in there anymore

Positive experience: good selection of equipment and gym is usually pretty clean but it is SO busy. It's not a big enough gym to cater to the amount of members. I've tried coming at different times between 9am-9pm and it seems to be packed at all normal hours.

Fantastic experience: Loved this cityfitness branch has plenty of parking space and big enough to accommodate more than 100 to 200 people at a time goodspace for storage inside for your bags and also shower facilities.

Negative experience: I went to ask some questions regarding my membership and the lady there name Kait been rude and not helping and making faces .I found it , i have been to different city fitness never experienced such behaviour . I hope the supervisor or manger should train her and she develops some listening skills instead of some day dreaming answers

Positive experience: Going to this gym every weekday. Yesterday I dad to try 4 different treadmills to find one that works. Seems like this situation is getting worse.

Positive experience: It's an ok gym, but every time I've been its very messy. Dirty floors, weight plates scattered, barbells missing. Not a fan of the padding on the machines, they feel very firm, almost like resting on a piece of timber.

Negative experience: Circled the car park for 20 mins and finally gave up. Waste of time and petrol and paying for a gym membership I can’t use. Will be moving to a more accessible gym

Negative experience: Everything felt sticky, was not impressed by the amount of equipment that needs maintenance, seats damage and grips needing replaced. A very busy gym so understand that they have high usage for the equipment, but doesn't excuse the lack of maintenance needing done, if anything they should be encouraged to keep on top of maintenance. Not enough spray bottles or paper towels to clean equipment, if there way a spray bottle it was leaking. If able suggest going to other city fitness in town

Fantastic experience: I love this gym, its new, big and plenty of car parks ( although you will get $85 ticket if you park on grass or on top of kerb) You can do all your workout here. Please Please add assault bikes and ski exercise machines. The shower and toilets are amazing (could do with air a little fresheners does smell all the times) but hey good hot water pressure for sure.

Positive experience: Decent sized gym but deceiving with workout equipment. Needs more grips and machines. On 3 isolated hamstring machines and 2 isolated quad machines making leg day rough when busy

Positive experience: Great Gym just very overcrowded and some machines are needing repair like treadmills I went on 3 today but they were not working otherwise it’s a great gym

Fantastic experience: Overall great place. It's very affordable and has all the appropriate amenities. However, the sidewalk outside is littered with chewing gum. I've had to clean my shoes several times after stepping on gum. I hope this can be resolved.

Negative experience: Poor customer service. They make it very difficult to cancel membership and they are not receptive to complaints and customer concerns. After complaining about the difficulty in cancelling, they showed no interest in remedying or improving the customer experience. The equipment in store is high quality and well-cleaned though.

Positive experience: Excellent if you go at the right time, what that time is, iam not too sure. What I mean by that is? Limited machines otherwise very good place to be active

Positive experience: Great gym at an excellent price. Sometimes it is hard to get on machines as a lot of people there, or machines under repair. Too many young people just there to post to social media

Positive experience: It's alright. But it's always packed. But I mean at that price I'm not sure you can complain. Just gotta ask to use machines between people or change your workout on the fly.

Negative experience: Genuinely get rid of like half the cardio machines and put in some actual weight machines and it would be perfect no-one wants to wait an hour or 2 for one machine

Fantastic experience: Solid establishment, very busy at peak times. Good size gym, with all the amenities you need. Yoga studio is top class, City Fitness has some of the best yoga classes in the city. Great teachers & plenty of availability between the three Abundance studios (Wigram, Hereford & Shirley).

Negative experience: Stay away! I joined this gym a few months ago but decided it wasn't worth the money to me, I tried to cancel and they said I need to give them 4 weeks notice. I purposely chose the more expensive membership and paid the $50 joining fee so I could cancel anytime. That's what was advertised. It will cost me over $60 just to cancel, which I think is outrageous as there was no mention of having to give 4 weeks notice when I joined. Gyms are known for being sketchy, but this one takes the cake! They are very sketchy and scamming people. I would not recommend Cityfitness to anyone!

Love the membership options and being able to bring a friend on the highest membership is a lovely add on. The changing rooms and showers are always clean. Alex is lovely and Archie has been an amazing person trainer. Highly recommend Wigram City Fitness!

Negative experience: Originally four stars when opened but now 2. Too packed, always broken equipment. I get it, it suits the target market and more power to them, but I signed up elsewhere at almost double the cost and got a better workout. My rating is just that, my rating. If you love it then great, me I don't want to wait for equipment

Positive experience: It was good, like a playground but for adults. Treadmills were particularly enjoyable. It's like running but you don't go anywhere, but out feel like you're going somewhere

Fantastic experience: They've just added more of the very popular machines (chest fly and cables), staff are always fantastic, plenty of disinfectant and paper towel stations and water stations. Updated bathrooms are awesome. Definitely recommend, just be aware it's very busy at peak hours

Worst service shouldn’t b 1 star either

Negative experience: Informed this company 5 times that I have cancelled their direct debit authority, yet they refuse to acknowledge they have received it from me and have basically said they will deal with it when they get around to it. I would be very very careful allowing this company to have direct debit auth over any of your accounts
