Negative experience: Well, the owner responded — yet again, another example of not even bothering to read the review before replying. I honestly have no idea how you're running this business. I had an incredibly frustrating experience with this gym and would not recommend it to anyone. Here’s what happen By the way the guy I was dealing was with is "TONY" the employee of the year. I was interested in joining their boxing classes, so I called the gym to inquire. The first time I called, there was no answer. I left a voicemail asking someone to give me a call regarding gym information and classes. I also sent them an email to follow up. They eventually replied to my email, but the response was completely unhelpful,( i have put up the screenshots of the emails and calls). It was clear they hadn’t even listened to my voicemail or properly read my email, which was explicitly about giving a call and discussing, not just the gym’s hours. Would help if they answer their God damn phone. I replied to their email, clarifying that I was inquiring about boxing classes. They respond the gym is open to come check out, i mean jesus do you guys actually read the email before replying . The next day, I tried calling them again, but still no answer. I sent another email asking if they had read my previous message, and again, there was no reply. Today, I called them once more, and yet again, no one answered. Their lack of communication is shocking, and it’s clear they don’t value potential customers. If this is how they treat people trying to join, I can only imagine how bad their service must be once you’re a member. Save yourself the headache avoid this gym. Spoke to few people at a different gym and one ogmf their ex staff said how bad the gym environment is. Shame firstplace fitness.

Negative experience: NEVER AGAIN. - wish i could give 0 stars! I requested a non-contract, flexible term, but the gym trainer—who I later found out was from Australia and only working there for that day only—signed me up for a 3-year contract. When I tried to cancel my membership, I discovered that the signature he had taken on the iPad was for the 3-year contract. After numerous calls to the gym, I finally got the contact details for Kristy. She spoke to me once and asked me to email her the issue. After doing so, she canceled my membership and direct debit on 14th November 2024. Since I have multiple bank accounts, I didn’t check all of them frequently. However, when I happened to review my bank statements this year, I found that my direct debit had been restarted without my consent on 5th December 2024. I texted Kristy twice, called her eight times, and emailed her and the gym as well as Debit Success four times, but I didn’t receive any response from anyone. I have now asked my bank to stop the direct debit and plan to take legal action against this horrible experience. If you’ve had a similar experience with this gym, please don’t forget to leave a review. There are already more than 18 reviews with similar stories, and I’ve taken screenshots of all of them.

Negative experience: DO NOT recommend. If you cancel your membership due to moving away, they will keep charging you and not respond to enquires for a couple days (to keep taking payments). They then send a form and don’t respond (to keep taking payments).

Negative experience: Don’t sign up to this gym if you have a busy work schedule. They don’t unlock the doors on time in the morning, no one has the ability to give you an access card they’ll just keep telling you to come back to the locked doors. I tried 3 times to get an access card the only time they could even try was when I finally gave up and went to cancel my membership. They offered it for free instead of the $30 card charge I declined this because I wasted enough money just to feel even more anxious about showing up to a gym than before. I cancelled my membership over a month ago but they’re actually still taking my money. Might have to bring a support person just to get my money back and for them to do the right thing. What an awful experience. Do not sign up here unless you want a headache. Genuinely felt like they just didn’t want me in their gym that’s why no one could help. Talk about anxiety inducing

Negative experience: No problems while attending the gym but cancelled my membership and it was reactivated without contacting me. When I worked it out hundreds of dollars and clarified amount my email was not replied to and each phone call I made I was promised it would be sorted but I had to go in to ask if it had been sorted. Lots of apologies and excuses but no transparency or action. Took months before the payments stopped going out. Finally got paid about 1/3 of what I was owed and I've given up trying. If you are going to go here pay upfront and don't give any auto payment permission/credit card details. Still frustrated I wasn't fully reimbursed, some good people in the gym but no care for customers money at business end.

Negative experience: Trainers are no good. No help with motivation. Many false promises. It will also take months and months to cancel and they will happily take you're money and NOT cancel the membership Very cheeky .

Positive experience: Had a couple of trial sessions here and unfortunately this gym is not for me. While there's heaps of variety in equipment, it comes at a detriment to actually having space to move around. Equipment and building also feels a bit tired and run down

Fantastic experience: This gym is my happy place and always will be, if the staff and the gym weren’t so nice I would be rating 4 stars however as the bathrooms are quite disgusting and always have toilet paper over the floors and hair in the showers ect . It would also be nice to see some sanitary products in the female bathroom

Negative experience: Literally the worst gym! The customer service is horrible! They stuff you around when trying to cancel & honestly just seems like they’re greedy for money! They’re slow at email responses! I have been paying for a membership for nearly one year & I’ve only ever been into the office & got the worst service it’s so disappointing going into such an intimidating place & having staff members that aren’t welcoming.. & it’s even more disappointing reading that everyone has the same experiences with them.

Fantastic experience: I initially joined because of the childcare and immediately loved the friendly, family vibe of the gym. I’ve been with FPF for 6 months now - it’s such an awesome place to work out and I feel really comfortable there. The gym staff are all super friendly and supportive. The crèche staff are sooooo kind - I feel like they genuinely enjoy being around the kids. Everyone seems happy there - I’m certainly happy there! Thanks FPF staff, I appreciate you all

Fantastic experience: I joined this gym a few months ago as I wanted to get back into working out after having a baby, but I have no family in Hamilton and my friends all work during the day. So the child minding was a massive draw for me! It's so nice being able to get a 60 minute workout in knowing my baby is under the same roof being looked after by amazing staff. I have been a member of many gyms both in NZ and overseas and this is one of my favourites. Sometimes I see the carpark full and I worry I won't be able to use the machines I want to, but I've never had an issue. I love the different rooms, it feels like there are endless options for working out. There truly is a family feel at this gym and I'm really glad I'm now a member.
