Negative experience: Do not join this gym at any time during December-January. It is an absolute cluster because of the ASB Tennis being held on the premises. The chaos begins in December with the construction of the stands and the on-site car park becomes unavailable (two temporary car parks are used instead, but these are inconvenient and often full). Then, the facilities are reduced to accommodate the players, so the members’ lounge becomes the players’ lounge, the changing rooms become 1/3rd of the size, so the same number of gym members are sharing significantly less lockers and bathroom facilities, which then gets dirty quicker and don’t seem to be cleaned any more frequently. Parking becomes even worse as the roads in and out of the area are closed off for access to the tennis. If you’re lucky, and I mean lucky, you’ll get a spot in the uncovered car park across the road, but if not you’ll have to park up the hill and over the bridge in a separate multi-storey car park. I made the mistake of joining this gym in Dec, so this has basically been my entire experience of the gym so far. When I toured the facilities in Nov in its regular state I was initially quite impressed, but the experience of attending NextGen during the ASB classic has been abysmal. There was no mention during signup of the reality of how this gym would be operated for over a month. Members should be financially compensated for this, not just expected to deal with it.
Negative experience: Horrible, paying for premium membership with car park and because of this ASB classic can’t get a parking just wasted 30 min waiting in a queue just to be told that car park is full and had to drive around to find an other car park, gave up had to go home. You should compensate members if you can’t provide the service To add more, yesterday tried to have a shower after workout but there was a line to use a shower because half of the changing rooms are blocked off. Come on if your business making money on the event but it comes at the expense of your members you should compensate your members, especially when I’m paying $70 a week for premium membership. Otherwise new Auckland Uni gym has new and much better facilities for lower price
Fantastic experience: Love this gym - been coming daily for 7 years now. Angel on reception is the best. So positive, so fit, always smiling and a perfect good morning inspiration each day. Best gym.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. It is hard to find a place the offers so many different options (2 x pools, gym, sauna, steam room, hot and cold spa, tennis courts, carpark and etc). The sales manager Chris, was really helpful and great person to deal with. Me and my wife love going to Next Gen
Positive experience: First off I would say if you takeaway the occasional rude staff member or arrogant member, the facilities would warrant 4 stars given the $60 weekly membership. However there a many significant issues with this gym. Firstly Tennis: as you'd imagine, plenty of people are enticed to join for the tennis. Booking courts is easy and readily available for members and is included in some memberships, which is actually a good bargain when considering location. However I experienced a couple of issues. First, our interclub team had 10 people!?! This meant we only played once a month. Secondly, one of the members I was playing with braided me for replying to a text during a set break. I reported this, but no action was taking by the gym, and after that I made me uncomfortable using the gym. Gym & Pool: both are some of the best in Auckland. Pool is great especially which the higher membership tier. Some people in the gym don't like it when you can lift more than them, which happens quite regularly considering there are a lot of oldies, but not really an issue. Although they do lack sufficient plates. Food: The restaurant is amazing and well priced. The coffee though is awful. I don't think the staff have any training and not matter what coffee you order you get the same sour mess. It's actually worse than McDonald's which I find hilarious. Overall: I join again if the gym actually cared about it's members and not just take sides and increase fee every year. It's expensive but you are getting alot for your money.
Fantastic experience: I love coming to Next Gen. My Morning Stair Master, coffee and brunch. M.J and the cafe staff are wonderful - they remember my coffee order and always have something nice to say. Thanks guys

Fantastic experience: I love Next Gen, facilities and Staff. MJ and Carlos run it like one big family. The cafe is fab. Great service and the best coffee ever. Especially made by Beau! Super professional and kind. Crystal and Ash are super stars too! The reception is so welcoming especially Angel who is always there to help and explain. He is a real asset. Becoming a member many years ago has been the best decision ever. Nextgen Auckland is more than a gym. It’s a lifestyle, a warm family. ❤️

Negative experience: My husband and I went for a tour yesterday 12pm (Saturday) with Akitha Fonseka and the tour was alright. I was maybe considering the gym, but today (Sunday) I received FIVE CALLS from Mr Fonseka while I was trying to have a family day. THIS IS HARASSMENT. I will not be joining a gym that is ok with their staff harassing people. I have called and asked to not be contacted anymore. I have blocked the number and DO NOT WISH TO BE CONTACTED ANY FURTHER.

Fantastic experience: The best health and fitness facilities I’ve seen across Auckland Great Cafeteria for food, coffee, meetings and deep work. Swimming pool, sauna and gym facilities are exceptional. Amazing space across the gym floor with multiple cardio sections, a great variety of strength equipment and group fitness classes including Pilates & Yoga. ️♂️ Lastly finishing off with great parking facilities that are rare to find in the surrounding areas.

Negative experience: Great gym and facilities however some of the staff, especially those working in the cafe have very rude attitude! Better to find better staff and hire people who like working there not those who seems being forced to work! It’s ruining people day dealing with those type of personnel when they come there to have some relaxing time.

Negative experience: I booked tennis court until 9:00pm and the stuff turned off ALL court lights at 9:01 sharp. We have to pick balls and the bags, water bottles in darkness. I questioned the manager about the way they did this but he said that’s the correct way to do this because the court closes at nine and stuff needs to be off work. I said in anger that then do you expect us to pick us balls and stuff in darkness? And the manager escalate this situation by blocking my way and threatening me from entering the club to pick up my clothes and laptop because I raised my voice! What a great way to deal with complaint!!
Negative experience: Beautiful gym, impossible communication
Negative experience: Worst service ever!!!!!! My friend recommended me this gym~ first impression was really good. Love it. Hence, sign up as a family of 5 and recommended my parents to sign up at the same time. At the time, it was their promotion period - a family sign up will get $100 credit to spend in house. This is when the worst nightmare happen~ such a big brand gym but their Admin was horrific. It took them 2 months to load that credit into our account with numerous follow ups which was a burden to us. During the follow ups,Tom one of the sales promised that he will give another $50 credit on top of the $100 as a token of apology cause it took them ages to process it - this was thru a phone call. We believed him, gave him time to process it - it's been another month since that phone call but NO ACTION WAS TAKEN. We followed up in person - He PROMISED he will do it. Please do your work~ it's really a bad impression for customer to keep following up tiresomely and nothing has been done. DOES IT NEED ANOTHER 2 MONTHS FOR THE APOLOGY TO BE DELIVERED? I think if your company is sincere in apologising then the action will be taken immediately.

Negative experience: Never go here and get a membership! Very bad experience. They waste your money and time. They won’t allow you to cancel!
Positive experience: Exercise facility is great, reception is nice, but one female kitchen reception is very rude, especially the lady with golden hair, talk very loud and gossip other people, everyone is reading and enjoy their food, but that lady is very noisy.
Negative experience: My experience here has been nothing short of exhausting. I’ve had to deal with many back-and-forth emails just to get a simple issue addressed, and the customer service has been dismissive, unhelpful, and slow throughout the entire process. Megan, in particular, has been incredibly difficult to deal with — completely unwilling to show any flexibility or basic understanding. It honestly feels like they care more about policies and payments than actual people. The facilities might look good, but the way this gym treats its members behind the scenes is shocking. Think twice before signing up — there are plenty of other gyms that value their members and treat them with basic respect.

Negative experience: My first and last experience was awful the staff were rude and the spas were broken out and didnt mention before payment and when i asked for refund they didnt give back my money also the dry souna stinks like nevers been cleaning so wont be back there
Negative experience: Highly recommend working with the tennis instructor Marco and Corinne, however my first experience here was undermined by the lack of help and outright rude behaviour of the receptionist. Very unwelcoming and cold.
Negative experience: Today, my partner and I decided to try out the Sunday tennis class, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience—not because of the class itself, but due to the incredibly unhelpful and rude receptionist. When we arrived, we asked the black-haired receptionist lady where the class was held. She casually said, "Oh, in front of the indoor court," without offering any further directions or assistance. Confused, we wandered around the facility trying to find the indoor court ourselves but had no luck. We went back to her and asked the same question again, hoping for clearer guidance. Her response? The exact same phrase: "In front of the indoor court." No pointing, no effort to explain, just a blank stare as if we were supposed to magically know where it was. When we explicitly told her we had no idea where the indoor court was, she just stood there, staring at us, making no attempt to help. Thankfully, a kind member noticed our struggle and took the time to walk us to the court. Meanwhile, the receptionist just stood there, doing nothing. Her lack of basic customer service skills and arrogant attitude completely ruined our first impression of the place. We were initially planning to sign up to the gym, but after dealing with her, we’ve decided not to. It’s a shame because the tennis coach, Maco, was lovely and very helpful. However, one great coach can’t make up for such poor customer service at the front desk. If you’re considering this place, be prepared to deal with unhelpful staff—unless you’re lucky enough to avoid the receptionist altogether.
We are sorry for this experience and is not something we normally see. We are investigating as this is not a true representation of how the Next Gen team treat our members.

Negative experience: Extremely Disappointing Experience – Avoid NextGen Auckland at All Costs! My experience with NextGen Auckland has been nothing short of a nightmare. This has been the worst gym experience and purchase I have ever made. From the start, the onboarding process was a complete disaster. It took an exhausting 1 hour (for a GYM!?), during which the staff, despite me clearly stating upfront that I would only be staying for two months, failed to mention critical contract terms that would lock me in for longer. To make matters worse, the person onboarding me was on their first day, clearly untrained, and rushed through the contract without properly explaining the terms. They then had the audacity to ask me to sign a document we hadn’t even reviewed properly. This level of unprofessionalism is completely unacceptable. When I discovered the issue, I reached out multiple times, only to be met with denial and refusal to take accountability for their mistake. Despite my countless attempts to resolve this, they continued billing me weekly, refusing to cancel my membership and forcing me to pay for a service I did not want. The facilities? Subpar at best. The entire experience feels like a scam designed to lock you into expensive long membership, while gym facilities don't give you the bang for your buck. Save yourself the headache—go to Les Mills instead. They know how to treat their members right, unlike NextGen Auckland, which has proven to be a terrible investment and a complete waste of money. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM.

Negative experience: If your child is active, loves to run and jump, and tends to be noisy, do not come to this place. Their staff have the “right” to yell at your child because of their behaviour—though I have no idea where that right comes from. The fun part now is the general manager Carlos King keeps asking us to delete the review because it’s incorrect and inappropriate, and even blamed me for not addressing it privately but posting it on Google Reviews instead. I just want to clarify one thing here for you Carlos King, your staff yelled at my kid, which is a fact. Just because you don’t admit it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. From now on, I won’t accept your apology. Of course, I know you won’t apologize. Not only will you not apologize, but you’ll also keep insulting us. Phoebe Wu
We have tried to speak to you regarding this incident where your unattended children were in breach of the law and our safety policies. This is completely inappropriate to accuse and Dox members staff publically without discussing the investigation and clear CCTV footage with us. Further action will be taken.
Negative experience: We have been members here for two to three years, and this has always been a place my children and I love to visit. Every Friday, my kids come here to swim and have dinner. However, today was the worst experience we have ever had here. When they announced over the speakers that they were closing, I told my kids it was time to go home. The children walked ahead while my friends and I followed behind. As we passed by the café counter, an older white woman with glasses, who was a staff member, suddenly shouted very loudly at the children, telling them not to run. Her yelling startled everyone on the spot. We were all frozen in shock, staring at her, and other guests also turned to look. My younger son was so frightened that he froze in place and then started crying. This staff member had been unfriendly the entire evening. Our drinks took a long time to arrive, and she never smiled, giving us the impression that she was displeased with us for some reason. I initially thought she might just be exhausted after a long day of work, but yelling at children is something I cannot accept. I'm worried that my children will be too scared to come back here. This place used to be very welcoming to kids, with special activities for them on Fridays. I don’t know what has changed or why such staff members are working here now. I am truly concerned that my child might have nightmares tonight.

Positive experience: Facilities and classes are great. Plunge pool needs to be colder and only 3 hours of free parking with premium membership is frustrating. By the time you've done a class/gym/swim/spa it can be tight to fit it in 3 hours.

Jess has so much energy (in both Spin and Power) and somehow makes you keep pushing even if you don’t think you have it in you!). There is a genuine sense of camaraderie and care. Fantastic experience: Love the vibe here at NextGen! The gym has really good equipment and is never too busy - have always managed to use the equipment I need. The instructors are all really friendly and helpful, love the constant energy, chats and smiles! Bathroom and toilets are always clean and tidy too which is a bliss. Negative experience: It has been almost 6 months to join Next Gen. it is a fantastic gym no doubt but my only concern is the customer service. I am totally agree with it the person who is at reception duty have the full right to ask about the member card. It’s very disappointing and almost insulting someone by the way the one of your staff on duty ask about member card. We joined here as a couple so usually we carry only one card and yeah you have right to ask however ‘Hey, where is your card? Are you member with us’ in a rude way is not appropriate at all. No one likes to hear such words in harsh tone early morning. We felt insulted.

Fantastic experience: Fabulous experience so far! Great team of staff, and excellent vibes and energy from trainers and other clientele alike. Awesome equipment and never have to wait too long for machines. Great selection of classes to choose from and the facilities throughout are top notch. I really enjoy being there and can't wait to get back everytime I leave. After 15 years off exercise and carrying alot of weight, I don't feel judged or embarrassed to be there, infact I feel encouraged and excited thanks to the positivity and warmth from staff and other clients. Everywhere you go in the building, you are greeted with happy smiles and a relaxed atmosphere. Love it!!
Negative experience: Next Generation EV chargers: Broken promises Next Generation's Tesla chargers were a major selling point when I joined. Being able to charge while working out or enjoying a coffee was fantastic. Now, it's a different story. Most chargers are gone, with no explanation. Only one remains, and another is out of order, displaying a sad "Out of Order" sign. There's been zero communication from Next Generation about this. No updates on repairs, no timeline, nothing. It's like they've vanished into thin air. I've tried reaching out through their website contact form and even spoke to the reception staff, but I've been met with silence. It's like talking to a brick wall. I'm disappointed. This gym isn't cheap, yet they're cutting back on amenities without a word. We're still on restricted Covid hours, and now the EV chargers are disappearing. It feels like a bait-and-switch. Ignoring member inquiries is unacceptable. It shows a lack of respect and transparency. Next Generation needs to step up and communicate with its members.
Fantastic experience: I’m so glad I decided to join next Gen! There is no better place to unwind after a long day at work. Yesterday I went to the rooftop pool at 5pm, which would be considered peak times at other gyms. I had the pool to myself and got to watch the sun set! I’m really excited to try out the classes and the cafe. You get what you pay for and I second the recent reviews: highly recommend
Fantastic experience: I am impressed by facilities. Found the staff to be very informed and friendly. The Spinning and Power classes are amazing with brilliant instructors. Even the kids club and swimming lessons are impressive and well run by the team. The only thing I'd say is that the men's showers are starting to show their age, however they do regularly maintain them. I fully recommend this gym

Positive experience: Wonderful facility, with friendly staff. Mate is an absolutely wonderful PT. He is attentive, knowledgeable and very friendly. He not only helps me work toward achieving my personal goals, but also assists in rehabilitating old injuries through form correction and proper strengthening without exertion. Would highly recommend training with him!

Negative experience: They should teach the staff how to deal with people.Most of the staff are so cocky.Almost like they are doing the people who gym there a favor. Especially the guy that I found a couple of times at the front counter.
