Located in Wainoni, Christchurch, Te Wero Gymnastics is a passionate, family-oriented club established in 2016 by former international athletes Jozsi Ferencz and Svetlana Sazonova. Despite being a smaller facility, the club punches well above its weight, delivering high-quality coaching and achieving significant success on the national stage. The philosophy centers on empowering gymnasts of all ages and abilities to meet challenges head-on, build self-esteem, and develop lifelong skills while having fun.
Te Wero offers a diverse range of programmes tailored to individual needs. For younger athletes, the structured Preschool Classes focus on interactive play, balance, and confidence-building in a coach-led, parented environment. The Recreational Classes welcome boys and girls from age five, teaching fundamental gymnastics skills on beam, floor, and bars without the pressure of competition. For those stepping back from elite sport, the Apex Squad provides a low-commitment training environment to maintain fitness and skills. Adults (16+) can join classes designed to improve flexibility, strength, and spatial awareness, regardless of prior experience. The club also boasts a robust Competitive Programme, including Women’s and Men’s Artistic Gymnastics squads that compete at regional and national levels.
At the heart of Te Wero is a dedicated team of accredited coaches mentored by international experts. The club emphasizes not only physical development—enhancing agility, endurance, and coordination—but also emotional well-being and perseverance. Fantastic experience: Friendly and approachable staff! Loved there!
Negative experience: Went to a competition there but the te wero kids and supporters were so noisy, it seemed unfair to the other teams of competitors

Positive experience: Our daughter loved attending Te Wero and she loved the coaches who were fantastic. Unfortunately communication over the past month has been terrible with phone calls and e-mails not being responded to. We have tried numerous times to get a few answers to dates and make up classes and have been told Rainbow would reply but we haven't heard back and sadly our daughter wont now be attending this term.

Make up sessions through out term are available to those with a medical certificate on Saturdays 10.00-11.30. This was noted in our Term 1 Newsletter sent out on February 9th. Moving forward we will ensure that emails and phone calls are responded to in a timely fashion.We hope that you return to Te Wero in the future.
Fantastic experience: Te Wero is our second home! Until late last year I had two daughters in the competitive program. The oldest started high school this year so she is now just doing Team Gym. She absolutely loves still coming twice a week to see the coaches and do some conditioning and the fun stuff like tumbling. My youngest lives for gymnastics and loves the coaches and her team mates at Te Wero. The coaching is phenomenal and last years competition season results certainly reflected this. This is very much a family focussed gymnastics club which I highly recommend for any level of gymnastics.
Positive experience: I'd recommend Te Wero to anyone who's children love gymnastics. What I've observed is that it's so much more structured and suited to each person's ability than what we've experienced before. I'm hoping it will build my daughters confidence along the way as she's participating in classes.
