Totara Park Pools: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Love it
Fantastic experience: Forgot how great these little pools are!!! My twin granddaughter's had an awesome time gaining even more confidence in the kiddie pool with their mumma. BBQ areas were nice and clean, will need to remember to take a bbq/steak pack for a munch on our next visit. Staff were friendly, informative and very welcoming

Fantastic experience: Great place to take the kids Bush walks, play grounds and in summer the free pool. Children love coming here
Fantastic experience: I believe that it's quite a very unique and vibrant place to go for swims over summer as I believe that it's actually only an outdoor pool that would be closed for the winter although I've only known of indoor pools at gyms and recreation centers and I also know it's a pool where children must be supervised at all times and I can see that it also has a shallow pool for toddlers and babies and it's located at the back of Totara Park surrounded by Bush and native trees and it's as good as the beach and I live quite local to Totara Park as I believe it's because on of my number one hotspots to for a swim in summer and I'd recommend this idea to all my friends family and neighbors when it comes to a refreshing dip and soak in the pool over summer and I also know that it can get very crowded over summer and even in the actual park as I know it's also where Maori and Pacific Island People and families and children come to Totara Park for Picnics and BBQs and fun sports events, and any special events like parties and gatherings, and it's also and ideal hotspot for bushwalking, and I also remember 16 years ago I actually had to pay, but nowadays we only have to pay for our children to get in with the exception that for adults, it's free, just like Papatoetoe Pools, Otara Lesure Centre Pools and Otahuhu Pools where as any pools further south than Manukau like Manurewa and Papakura Pools you have to pay, but overall apart from Totara Park Restaurant, and the tennis courts, ideally Totara Park pools is the best facility Totara Park has to offer. And I'd give it a 10 out of 10.
Fantastic experience: After a long walk in Totara Park on a summer day, we spotted the pools. Luckily we had swim gear in the back of the car and went back to the pools only to find out that entrance was FREE (perhaps because we were with our 2yr old?). They’ve got a bigger lane pool and a toddler pool (both pretty fresh water) , warm showers in the dressing rooms and a small recreational area/grassy area where you could relax a bit if you wanted. Awesome little random spot for us exploring the area for the first time. Bring a swim nappy for infant or buy one at the door. Only cash accepted though!
Fantastic experience: Totara Pools I have been swimming here most of my life. Outdoor scenery and picturisque views. Come and enjoy the outdoors. It has its own tennis courts for those who loves a game of tennis. Aweaome place to enjoy with family and friends.
Fantastic experience: Close to home and my grandsons love going their
Negative experience: Small and old.
Fantastic experience: Mean hop skip & jump Jus down the Rd Awesome place & it's freeee
Positive experience: Nice for the children for swimming an heaps of seating an trees, lots of lifeguards on watch, they were very good keeping everyone in line..
Positive experience: The park around the pool is good place for Bbq and a stroll. Enough shades and seating if you want to relax.
Fantastic experience: It's always a pleasure enjoying some family time at Totara park pools during the summer periods. Especially being an open outdoor pool, within a large park that is blanketed around trees and bush. It has a huge walkway throughout the park for people wanting to stroll through the park. It has a small park for the children and large fields so that you can set up your volleyball net or play relays with friends and family. There is lots of BBQ areas with loads of shade and has toilets that guest can use. If you haven't been and would like to swim it is also FREE so you don't have to worry about paying an entry fee only to purchase the swim nappies for your baby which at the moment cost $2.50 or you could take your own. Make sure to pack a large picnic and enjoy your time.
Fantastic experience: Totara Park Pool is Open now, must show Vaccine Pass at gate, they hagve a Security who scans all the passes
Fantastic experience: I love going for a walk around totara park theres so many different tracks to walk through and it's for beginners up to advance walker/runners they also have a bike track and the views from the top of the hill are amazing
Fantastic experience: Great place to take kids for hike, they play on the playgrounds, and have a swim. Pool is free on Sundays which is great. Also have bbq available, or just somewhere to go for a picnic lunch highly recommended for school holidays.
Positive experience: Even though they opened an hour later than there sign the pool area was clean and the BBQ area was well used by all even if you had to wait a bit to use them. It was a hotday and the kids had a good time
Positive experience: Even though facilities are looking a bit old and outdated (nothing a touch of paint couldn't fix) this location is an asset to the community. Working bbq, lots of shady trees and seating. Entry requires vaccine pass for 12 and up currently. Have definitely noticed less crowds here which is nice as it used to get quite packed
Fantastic experience: Great outdoor pool
Negative experience: It was closed!
Fantastic experience: Nice place to take kids for bush walk and swim
Positive experience: We had my nephews 1st birthday here, what a beautiful and clean park and has a outdoor pool you can have access to and modern toilets. Because of covid-19, they were only allowing 100 people into the pool at a time so it could be a wait at times. The park is mostly built for a child like 7+ but they have a lot of free space to run around. They also have a trail you can go for a little hike to get alittle cardio in. There were plenty of families there with bbq and a diverse culture of people so it was nice to see how everyone hot along in their own areas. Excellent place for a picnic and to hold a small get together
Positive experience: Always lovely coming out here. Did however find it interesting that we had to wait in a queue (1st time ever) to get into pool facilities due to lack of life guards. If it's the summer season surely you would have had adequate staff numbers for the amount of people that would come out here to use the facilities. Never would have happened if still under Manukau leisure services management.
Positive experience: Awesome day today..lifeguards at pools were lnto it
Fantastic experience: Nice and clean.
Fantastic experience: Good for familys day out
Positive experience: Beautiful place for fam and friends
Fantastic experience: Live the time it closes at 7.45

Fantastic experience: Free outdoor pools. It has a kids pool and adults pool, a BBQ area. A couple of playgrounds, tennis courts, and bush walks! There's also a bike track!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful facilities major upgrade fantastic bush walk and play ground and don't forget the pool.
Negative experience: The pools are situated at such a beautiful place. The pools are only accessible 4 months in a year. Wt a waste of location. Council should put a entry fee n work on facilities so the community can access the pools all year long
Fantastic experience: The best, free, nappies at 2. 50/piece, the whole park at your disposal, birthdays, daily barbecues, the lots, bring your whole family, mokopuna s, kaumatua s, and enjoy a whole day thru totara Park, the pools, un unforgettable day out for all of you s...

Fantastic experience: Loved it, so quiet, water was beautiful and very deep.
Fantastic experience: Great spot, good simple kiwi pools just like how i grew up, great for kids to play and families enjoy for the day
Negative experience: Not to bad if all your looking for is a swim to cool down. This place has been looking run down over the years without any renovations. Staff use to be great growing up having music playing, competition things going on. Now it's just a place to swim
Fantastic experience: Ive always enjoyed taking my children here in the holidays for a family day out. Now im taking my grandchildren here as well and they always thoroughly enjoy it here at Totara Park. Awesome place for birthdays as well.
Fantastic experience: It's practically the same as when I was a youngster, more popular during school holidays, so avoid during this time if you don't like crowds. 2 free bbqs in the pool area, tennis court is still there, have to share with others if they want to play though. Nice bushwalks and a little play ground for kiddies. Good family place, but I don't think it's good for dogs... at least, I don't see many here...
Fantastic experience: Beautiful area. Well maintained. Toilets might need a bit of an upgrade but I can't complain too much as it's free. Overall a great place to cool down in the Summer.xx

Fantastic experience: Awesome example of a good family orientated outdoor recreation area. Expansive walkways & plenty of mature native forests to enjoy. Keep it clean please
Fantastic experience: Good morning workout, friendly people.
Positive experience: Important: Make sure you take ALL valuables with you and ensure your car is well secured. Unfortunately there are opportunists about. Aside from that the park is awesome with a variety of great tracks to choose from. Plenty of shade. A great location to visit for a day trip and a barbecue/picnic or just a run or walk. Great for kids and families. There are 2 playgrounds and a pool which is open in the summer. The park backs on to the Auckland Botanical Gardens so plenty to explore!
Fantastic experience: Awesome playground, and picnic area, and walks through the bush. Easy walks with pushchair suitable tracks, some stairs in other places. Dogs are welcome but on leash only. Lots of picnic tables and rubbish bins.
Fantastic experience: Great park for fitness and beautiful views, nice little outdoor pools open in the summer and connected to the Auckland botanical gardens
Positive experience: Lots of fun.
Positive experience: Great place for a family day out
Negative experience: not too bad
Positive experience: Free swimming pool, BBQ available, bush walks and a park for the kids
Positive experience: top demae
Positive experience: Cool historic set of pools open to the public. Only open in summer as it's not heated - and can get quite crowded. But in the heart of Totara Park near the Botanic Gardens so great as part of a family outing
Negative experience: Overrated, overpriced, overdue a renovation
