Sam’s experience in the fitness industry is vast and spans well over 15 years. His qualifications were gained from The New Zealand Institute of Sport and his career initially started with Les Mills where he worked as a reception manager and personal trainer. His passion for group fitness training became apparent almost immediately as a certified team instructor of many different modules such as Bootcamp, Spartan, Fit45, and Team Training which then led him to founding SWET, and the rest is history. Sam specialises in 2 main areas, efficient movement and learning how to run properly. Over the years he has developed programmes that focus on getting the basic fundamentals right. His running programmes have seen many of his clients vastly improve their balance, agility, stride length, breathing patterns, power output and speed.

Born and raised in Wellington, Damian has grown up immersed in the sporting scene. Representing both on the provincial and National levels in various sports such as Rugby, Touch and Softball, he has developed a true passion for elite fitness, mobility, and strength and conditioning.

Damian joined forces with childhood friend Sammy to start his new career path in the fitness industry in 2011 and has never turned back. In August 2014, the dream of SWET having its own permanent location was brought to life by Sammy and Damian and the SWET Group Fitness Training Studio was opened.

Damian has the knowledge, skills and support needed for the empowerment of individuals through their fitness journeys.  He provides his clients with the guidance and resources to achieve their goals, in a dynamic and fun environment. Damian thrives in group training environments and loves to encourage his team and clients to share that positive motivation with each other. It is this positivity that helps to create the fun and family-like culture that SWET is well known for.

Determination and curiosity drive Damian to always create new challenges for his classes and individual clients. He has a true appreciation for what our bodies and minds can achieve with the right support.

Natasha (Tasha) began her SWET journey in 2010. After recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament repair, she turned to Sam’s SWET sessions for guidance on her road back to playing sport at an elite level. Since that first class, she hasn’t looked back.  Tash has first-hand experience in knowing what it takes to rebuild all fitness foundations. Not only has she recovered from other various set backs, she understands what it takes to rebuild fitness, health and well-being after becoming a Mum in 2017 & 2020.

Tash is the wife of SWET’s co-director/owner, Damian Jacobs and is also part of the team that helps to manage and run SWET. Her core belief and biggest motivation behind her passion for exercise is knowing that when people stay active through fitness, strength, and mobility, they then have the tools to live happier lives both mentally, physically and spiritually. She loves that SWET is a place where individuals of all fitness levels can come together under one roof to work out. She thrives on the team environment in classes and believes that everyone has the right to participate and gain a love and confidence for exercise. Inspired each day by our members, Tash says one of the greatest things about being a trainer is when you see people “just giving things a go”. She especially loves teaching women on how to navigate their way around a Barbell and giving them the confidence to feel strong.

From a young age, Tash has always been and continues to be highly involved in the sporting community and has an impressive background in competitive netball and swimming. When she is not at SWET, she’s a very busy Mum of two young boys and likes to stay involved in the Wellington sporting community.

Kia ora koutou. I’m Te Rua and I am excited to be joining the SWET whānau. I am originally from Wairoa, Hawkes Bay but moved to Wellington 5 years ago. After completing a Diploma in Exercise Prescription in 2016 at NZIS I moved on to study at Massey and am currently in my last year of completing a bachelor’s degree in Sport and Exercise.

I love anything competitive and challenging so naturally, fitness has been a part of my life forever! I have worked with people ranging from athletes, youth, and the general population and am continuously looking to develop my skills through study and being involved in both professional and community projects on an ongoing basis.

For me, fitness is more than just working out. I get to dedicate my time and effort to helping others become fitter and stronger, physically and mentally which is what I strive for every time I’m coaching. I love creating a positive vibe in my classes and getting to know every person in the gym.

I’m Rory and I hail from the wonderful country of Ireland. I’m an experienced trainer with a long background in martial arts and in recent years turned to personal training to further my learning and understanding in the health and fitness world.

Most of my sporting career has been in professional football and mixed martial arts with over 10 years of experience in both fields. What I have drawn from this time, is the ability to add a little something different to my sessions and help my clients achieve their fitness goals with my own little spin on things. I have been passionate about fitness and sport my entire life and my approach has always been to work hard, but also have fun while doing it!

Proper movement and technique are very much at the top of my priorities list and I love to help all types of people when it comes to health and fitness. I have worked with professional sports people returning from injuries and also people completely fresh to fitness or their martial arts journey. I try to make my sessions as fun as possible and I love a good chat haha. I pride myself on being approachable and easy to talk to, and I promise to always lend a helping hand if needed.

Hi, I’m Jenny, I made the return to the fitness industry in 2018 armed with some good old life experience and a truck load of passion for the changes that can be made to your body, mind, and ultimately your future by developing and sustaining healthy habits.

I’m a huge advocate for functional fitness and a big believer in the benefits of core strength and stability work. As a scoliosis warrior (I choose not to suffer it) core work has been vital to my postural alignment and pain management. I am a certified Pelvic Floor safe instructor and know from experience the struggle involved in returning to exercise after having a baby, or being the mum trying to exercise with a toddler in tow. I’m now the mum who works out with her kids and we love it. I just wish there had been classes like SWET’s M&D movement when I was a new mum!

In short, I love what exercise does for me and to me. Exercise has given me confidence, strength, health, happiness, stress relief, me time, a community of like-minded people, a feeling of accomplishment and a burning desire to share all of that with others.
