Established in 1844, YMCA Taranaki is more than just a gym—it is a cornerstone of community wellness and development in New Plymouth. As a nonprofit organization, we pride ourselves on being inclusive, welcoming members of all ages, backgrounds, and fitness levels. Our mission goes beyond physical health; we are dedicated to building stronger kids, families, and communities together.
At our heart is a fully equipped Fitness Centre open 7 days a week, offering everything from cardiovascular equipment to free weights. We provide complimentary inductions, personalized training programs, and free access to our newly rebuilt sauna. Membership is flexible and affordable, with options for adults, youth, families, and concession cardholders, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to prioritize their health.
Beyond the weights, we offer a diverse range of recreational activities. Challenge yourself on our indoor climbing wall, join our energetic Kindy Gym sessions for toddlers, or participate in our various sports and programs. For those looking to host events, we offer venue hire for birthday parties and team practices in our community stadium.
We are also deeply committed to early learning and youth development. Our licensed childcare center provides a nurturing environment for children aged 0-5, while our Out of School Care (OSCAR) and holiday programs support school-aged children. Additionally, our specialized youth education and development initiatives empower rangatahi (young people) to reach their full potential through mentoring, bail support, and educational pathways. Join us in New Plymouth and experience a community that truly cares.
