Fantastic experience: Ive been to every gym in Whangārei and always come back to Kensington. They have a huge range of classes including Hyrox and I love the on demand virtual sessions that are available.

The equipment is top-quality and well-maintained, making every workout smooth and enjoyable. Plus, the parking is very convenient, which makes the whole experience even better.

Fantastic experience: This is a great facility with something for everyone. Lots of classes to choose from including Les Mills. What makes this gym stand out in Whangārei is the staffed reception and floor. The recent upgrade has brought it up with the times.

Positive experience: Kensington Fitness has recently renovated and upgraded their facilities, which is spread across three levels. It caters for a diverse range of people of all ages and abilities. There's disability access to toilets and a lift and stairs to access levels 2 and 3, although when the fire alarm goes off you cannot use the lift for obvious safety reasons. When we had to evacuate for the fire alarm, two of us had to carry a gentleman in his wheelchair down the stairs to the ground floor and wait for the all clear in the carpark outside. I'm not sure what the SOP is for an emergency wheelchair evacuation is. Members use a keyfob or the Gym Master phone app to swipe in at reception, but there's no swipe out facility at the exit gate, so it seems in an emergency you cannot electronically account for people on or off the premises accurately. There's plenty of free off street parking outside with dedicated mobility parking near the entrance and also at the southern end of the building. There are dedicated electric charging stations near the entrance for EV's. There's an extensive variety of Les Mills group fitness classes on offer, but there are often frequent cancellations due to instructor availability. There's a manual filing system for members to use as a training log to keep track their workouts. You get a free assessment when you join and another every 3 months after that. Although a reminder by text message or email would be a good motivation tool for members but is yet to be taken advantage of and unfortunately in my opinion is an opportunity missed for a more personal and friendly approach. There's a good range of equipment available for strength training, cardio and functional fitness or ROM rehabilitation and there's even a physio conveniently situated on the ground floor. Usually you do not have to wait long to use any gym equipment, even during peak hour times. The membership fees are fair and reasonable and the location is easy to get to with plenty of free off street parking close to the gym.

It would be difficult to find an equal competitor in Whangarei. Very happy customer!!!

Fantastic experience: I am definitely enjoying the renovations. Much improved layout & spacious feel to the gym. Nice upgrade to the womens toilet/shower/sauna facilities & improvements on the 1st level area's. Also great initiative with the new electronic sign in fobs with the added bonus of being able to sign in on your phones if one forgets to remember to pack their fob.

Fantastic experience: Excellent local gym, good size with plenty of new and quality equipment. They offer free group fitness sessions with your membership and there are plenty of carparks on a large site. Friendly staff and members with all ages of people in the community using the facility. They also have a number of personal trainer's in differing age groups, to assist you with your goals.

Negative experience: Do not sign up to a membership here. They use some debit direct company that makes it difficult for you to cancel you membership. I requested cancellation and they are still chasing me 4months later after I left the country (I live in Australia). Also the gym is really average, old equipment, clunky, change rooms are embarrassingly old. What air-conditioning?

Positive experience: Great facility and friendly team that work there. The bathrooms have good size showers and hair dryers and straighteners. Can also hire towels if you wish. The classes are the les mills ones and they have great rpm instructors.
